The 3dpac blister system transforms sterile packaging

What exactly is the 3dpac?
The 3dpac is a blister system newly developed by steripac for optimal position fixation of sensitive products within the sterile barrier.

How does the 3dpac work?
The 3dpac comprises three components:

  • outer sterile barrier (secondary blister)
  • inner sterile barrier (primary blister)
  • Fixation inlay
Your medical product is at the center of the 3dpac. It is embedded in the primary blister in a thermally individually shaped fixation inlay in a stable position. The fixation inlay is thermally produced during the packaging process. The product already in the blister is the moulding material for this. Therefore, the inlay always encloses the product like a second skin and offers uncompromising safety.

Products can have different geometries and sizes in each individual packaging process. The fixation inlay is always individually thermally adapted to the respective product.

When removing the product, the user first removes the fixing inlay from the packaging. The actual medical product lies easily accessible and intact in the primary blister.

For which products is the 3dpac particularly suitable?

For all highly sensitive medical products! The fixation inlay encloses the product in a tailor-made manner and thus enables play- and abrasion-free storage in the blister.

The innovative blister design shows its particular strengths in products with a large number of variants in terms of sizes and geometries as well as relatively small batch sizes

Examples of products with a large number of variants:

  • Generatively manufactured implants
  • Spinal implants
  • Screws
  • Plates

Mounting

Outsourcing assembly work to steripac offers a multitude of advantages.

Especially after cleaning processes of individual components, the directly connected assembly offers a maximum of cleanliness and safety.

Our employees adapt flexibly and quickly to new tasks at clean room workstations of classes five, seven and eight, which are equipped to a high standard. If required, our designers and mechanics supplement the workstations with individual assembly devices.

Our employees have many years of experience with a wide variety of products, materials and complex assembly processes.

Intensive training is just as much a matter of course as precise documentation and final functional and quality testing.

We fit seamlessly into the value chain of our customers, whereby the most diverse forms of cooperation are possible.

  • We are exclusively a production partner to whom our customers supply all parts and components.
  • We are also a concept partner who co-develops components, selects suppliers and monitors procurement and scheduling.
  • We take over test assemblies for the development of prototypes.
All tasks have one thing in common: we support our customers with precise, reproducible and efficient assembly processes.

Packing

At steripac, we see packaging as an integral component of pharmaceutical and medical products with central importance for manufacturers and users.

It serves as a sterile barrier system and fulfils other elementary functions: The packaging ensures that your product is ready for use for the specified shelf life. Directly printed or labelled, it fulfils information functions, on the one hand for the traceability of the manufacturing process, but also with data and facts about the product or its application.

The packaging is the first thing your customer holds in their hands, and usually in very challenging situations. It must be easy to open and functionally correct to remove, as well as giving a secure and trusting feeling through valuable materials, appealing design and tamper-evident closures.

In order to fulfil all these functions for a wide range of products, our machinery is so extensive that we can produce, fill and print standard packaging as well as the packaging solutions we develop individually ourselves. Packaging in single folding boxes or sales units is often the last packaging step.

Sterilization

Sterilization is the perfect final step for long-term safety. It is at the end of every production chain, whereby different processes can be used. It is crucial to know the respective strengths and advantages in order to select the appropriate process depending on the material components, product requirements and type of packaging.

The most common sterilization processes for medical devices are:

  • Gamma irradiation
  • Sterilization with ethylene oxide
  • Steam sterilization
  • E-Beam
  • Plasma sterilization
Our partner companies for carrying out sterilisation work exclusively on qualified equipment. The processes can be validated and corresponding documentation is a matter of course. In addition, we have been working with these companies on a basis of trust for many years.

All processes are additionally tested and continuously monitored by independent, external and accredited laboratories. All this offers us and our customers double security.

Cleaning

steripac is a specialist for innovative cleaning methods. Reliable cleaning of the products delivered to us creates a constant, defined and thus safe starting point for all further processing steps.

We distinguish between three types of cleaning: Microbiological cleaning with a germ-reducing effect, chemical cleaning to remove production aids and particulate cleaning for general production, transport or storage contamination.

More than half of the products are already cleaned at steripac before further processing. And the trend is rising. In addition, increasingly sophisticated production techniques as well as more complex products and regulations require new processes for final cleaning. We are optimally equipped for all of this.

In 2014, we invested in an innovative vacuum cleaning technology. This enables us to achieve optimum cleaning results even for geometrically demanding products, cannulas, filigree bores or highly structured surfaces

The cleaning systems and devices at a glance:

  • Vacuum extraction cleaning technology
  • Cleaning machines
  • Disinfection machines
  • Ultrasonic cleaning
  • Reverse osmosis plant
  • Vacuum drying
  • Drying oven
  • Drying under laminar flow
