Medical examinations or surgical interventions are not the norm for us patients and therefore lead to an increased stress factor, as we already feel uncomfortable, do not know what will happen next and are very sensitive to these situations.
Silicone has long been the preferred material for medical procedures with near-patient applications. Whether endoscopic examinations, invasive or minimally invasive interventions, dialysis procedures or patient monitoring such as blood pressure, pulse, ECG or temperature measurement, this material offers incomparable advantages in the field of cables and wires for medical applications: skin compatibility, biocompatibility, autoclavability of more than 500 sterilization cycles with extremely high flexibility in all directions are just a few of the positive properties mentioned here.
HEW-KABEL has adopted this stick-slip effect and developed a surface called HEW-Silindo® which changes the conventional feel of silicone in such a way that it prevents it from "sticking" even after more than 500 autoclave cycles. The result is excellent usage properties with an optimal feel at the same time. In addition, the combination of optimized cable structure, the use of high-performance materials and patented manufacturing techniques ensures a very high mechanical load capacity even with small dimensions. All cables and lines intended for this area of application can be sterilized and are biocompatible in accordance with EN ISO 10993-5.

HEW-Silindo® withstands common sterilization processes including steam sterilization (autoclave), plasma sterilization with hydrogen peroxide gas (STERRAD® NX®), disinfection washing machine, ultrasonic sterilization, gas sterilization with ethylene oxide, gamma sterilization and wipe disinfection.
