Volvo Investigation of the protected top speed

VOLVO has analyzed the effects of a guaranteed top speed in its new models with the Cortrium C3⁺ Holter Monitor. The result shows that greater safety and environmental protection in no way spoils driving pleasure and leads to a lower level of stress among drivers.
The comparative runs carried out in the second half of July were carried out with the brand’s most popular model: the Volvo XC60 mid-range SUVs each used a 173 kW (235 hp) B5 AWD mild-hybrid diesel engine. The vehicle from model year 2020 still reached a top speed of 220 km/h. All new vehicles of the current model year 2021 have protection to 180 km / h regardless of the motorization.

All drivers (independent media representatives) wore a Cortrium C3⁺ Holter Monitor to measure the heart rate with medical precision.

The results of the comparative drives reflect Volvo’s expectations: the small amount of time saved was paid in part with a significant increase in fuel consumption and in part with more stress, which inevitably has a negative impact on physical and mental performance.

Danish study from Herlev-Gentofte University Hospital on Arrhythmia in Covid-19 patients

In recent weeks, a disturbingly high number of case reports have been published by hospitals across Europe, reporting on corona patients who died of sudden cardiac arrest without serious lung complications during the course of the viral disease. Available Chinese cohort data show that arrhythmias were present in 16.7% of 138 corona patients, but this was not further classified.
To investigate if cardiac arrhythmias is an overlooked complication of COVID-19, Ass. prof. Dr. Morten Kjøbek Lamberts from Herlev-Gentofte Hospital (Copenhagen) in partnership with Dr. Erik S. Poulsen from Cortrium will conduct a study across several sites over the next months. The “ACOVID” study is intended to provide researchers and clinicians with explanations as to whether coronavirus has an effect on heart activity and if so, which effects.

COVID-19 patients are examined using the new innovative C3+ long-term ECG Holter Monitor from the Danish company Cortrium. The Cortrium C3+ is cordless and easy to attach to the patient with only three adhesive electrodes. The automated analysis of ECG data saves time for medical staff and gives a unique possibility to deliver scientific evidence without delay during the next three months.

The results of the study will help guide physicians and authorities in the treatment of patients with COVID-19.

New Holter Monitor C3⁺ with 7 day recordings, bluetooth connectivity and flexible arms

The new C3+ Holter Monitor features flexible arms and offers real-time preview of the 3 channel ECG via an app (iOS). In addition, recordings of up to 7 days can be selected. The device is attached to the patient’s chest with standard ECG electrodes. It has no cables and delivers excellent signal quality. The C3+Holter Monitor solution was designed to offer fast and accurate diagnoses of cardiac arrhythmias. “The time-consuming ECG analysis is outsourced, so that the practice operation is optimized, says Dr. W. Geissler, a general practitioner in Möhringen, Germany. Cortrium is looking forward to the response from the cardiologists at the conference. Interested physicians are invited to visit Cortrium at the booth (F740).

Why would doctors choose the C3+for recording?

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia in the general population.1Undiagnosed AF increases the risk of stroke fivefold.2AF is the leading cause of stroke, heart attack and mortality.3This risk can be reduced by early diagnosis and timely treatment.2There are currently about 10 million AF patients in Europe with a population of 500 million, and 100,000-200,000 new cases are diagnosed every year.4The prevalence of AF is increasing annually at an expected rate comparable to Iceland of 0.04%4. AF is expected to affect 14-17 million patients and 215,000 new cases per year in 2030 in Europe alone.3

Innovative technologies, such as the C3+Holter Monitor, can simplify and accelerate the diagnosis of AF. This device makes arrhythmia screening easy and convenient for both the physician and the patient. In the event of cardiac arrhythmia, the physician can quickly initiate the necessary treatment to reduce the risk of serious illness.
