The Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza confirmed POTOK’s effectiveness in the fight against SARS-CoV-2

The Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza (a Russian Ministry of Health federal institution) provided Potok Inter, the developer of its own technology and the producer of patented air decontamination units, the expert knowledge. It was stated in the report that POTOK’s equipment impacts non-selectively on all types of airborne microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, including Coronaviridae).

Considering the indiscriminate effect of the Potok 150-M-01 installation on various airborne microorganisms and its safety in the presence of a people, we consider it advisable to recommend the use of this installation for the prevention of infections with an aerogenic transmission mechanism in rooms of medical and educational organizations, in rooms for mass cultural and sports events and other public facilities, as referred to in document. 

Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) do become prominent in prevalence among human infectious diseases. The main mechanism of transmission of ARI pathogens is aerogenic, implemented by airborne droplets and airborne dust.

According to the Rospotrebnadzor Head Anna Popova, coronavirus is transmitted in 96% of cases by the drop route, in 4% - by air and is able to remain on the surface for 72 hours. One patient with pronounced symptoms of coronavirus can infect up to three people.

Since humans are the main source of COVID-19, indoor air decontamination is an effective way to combat the spread of coronavirus infection. Potok in the laboratory of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology

The Central Research Institute of Epidemiology is the official reference center for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) diagnostics of coronavirus infection in Moscow, that is directly involved in the fight against the epidemic.

Potok Inter has installed air decontamination units in the laboratory of molecular diagnostic methods, where with pathogenic material people work with. The equipment provides complete air sterilization and allows you to effectively protect the employee's workplace during continuous operating mode.

To identify and early isolation of patients with COVID-19 a laboratory analysis of patients samples is taken - with a diagnosis of pneumonia, acute respiratory viral infections and / or other diagnoses, from contact persons and persons who had arrived from abroad, as well as from everyone who wishes to be healthy, living in Moscow and Moscow region.

Potok Inter provided the RSPC Cardiology in Minsk with air decontamination units

Since March 2020, at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Cardiology” (hereinafter referred to as RSPC) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Potok air decontamination units built into ventilation systems are responsible for clean air.

The Republican Scientific and Practical Center is the leading medical institution where a full range of services in the field of cardiology is provided for adults and children with European standards.

5.5 thousand people are hospitalized annually, over 3 thousand heart operations are performed, over 30 thousand people take consultations with cardiologists and cardiac surgeons.

The Emergency Hospital in Ryazan opened with the equipment "Potok"

On March 5, 2020 opened the new city clinical hospital of the ambulance service of the Ryazan Region (hereinafter BSMP), which provided both emergency and planned care in all major medical areas.

The medical center was equipped with modern innovative equipment that would allow specialists to establish the correct diagnosis in the earliest stages of disease, prescribe effective treatment, and carry out specialized, including high-tech operations on the level

A new hematological housing at the Botkin Hospital with POTOK equipment has opened

On February 4, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin inspected the hematological housing of the City Clinical Hospital named after S.P. Botkin, where major maintenance was completed. On December 4, 2019  in the Republic of Korea, Seoul, with the organizational support of the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Korea, the 4th plenary meeting of the Korean-Russian Business and Investment Council was held, in which Potok Inter took part.

Winners of All-Russian Award "Exporter of the Year" announced

Andrey Slepnev, General Director, Russian Export Center (REC) announced winners of All-Russian Award "Exporter of the Year" at TASS  press conference. Winners awarding ceremony will take place at "Made in Russia" forum to be held in Moscow on November 14.

Winners will be granted various bonuses from REC and the award partners. Some of them are: personal support of negotiations with foreign partners in foreign markets; bonus rates for export contract servicing; registration in foreign market place; acceleration program training in the School of Export in Moscow, as well as wide range of exporters information support measures.

The award background

The "Best Russian Exporter" award was established in 1998. Since 2008, it has been granted under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In 2015, the new award format  has been developed: its name was changed for "Exporter of the Year", as the principle criterion established for selection of participants among exporters, was non-resource exports.

In 2019, the All-Russian award "Exporter of the Year" was included in the list of measures of the national project "International Cooperation and Export".

The award  has been held on competitive basis, and consists of two stages. Initially, winners were awarded at the level of 8 federal districts, then the best of them were determined in each category at the national level. Final winner awarding ceremony will be held in the framework of the International Export Forum "Made in Russia" on November 14.

Principles of participation

Exporters could complete a questionnaire on REC website, thus submitting their application for participation. Electronic questionnaires ensure the procedure simplicity and transparency. The questionnaires are ranked automatically. This, in turn, allows to avoid the impact of "human factor" during analysis of the participants' questionnaires. During the initial stage, the exporters were requested to provide a minimum document package, in order to get rid of "fake" exporters. Detailed verification is applied by the representatives of the constituent entities of the Federation in each nomination. 

The questionnaire provided for assessment of export activities. Namely: scope of exports, share of exports in total revenue of a company. Exporters are being assessed, inter alia, by availability of mandatory documents confirming the implemented procedures of product conformity assessment, according to the foreign markets standards (such as certificates of conformity, declarations of conformity, inspection certificates, registration certificates).

Exporters received additional points if they were able to confirm availability of foreign trademarks. Another advantage was availability of product support services abroad, after-sales warranty service and sales offices. Plenty of attention was paid to export activities level  (emergence of the new countries for exports, dynamics of growth in the number of foreign customers, export nomenclature expansion). Priority was also given to assessment of international promotion.

Korean company Loofen praised the effectiveness of the Russian air decontamination unit "Potok"

25 January 2019 in Korea, the manufacturer of air purifiers Loofen presented results of a test on the effectiveness of Russian Potok equipment in destruction of E. coli in indoor air.

For the experiment air decontamination unit Potok 150-M-01 was used. Firstly, specialists injected a constant concentration of target bacteria inside the test chamber and measured the concentration of bacteria. Then they turned on Potok unit and after operating the sample for 3 hours they measured the reduction rate of bacteria.

Efficiency was estimated by comparison of values of a bacterial burden without Potok unit (background level) with a contamination level after working of unit.

Test results
 
The background level of E. coli concentration in the test chamber was 11,000 CFU/m3. Measurements after 3 hours of operating Potok unit showed the reduction rate of bacteria by 99.9%, it was less than 10 CFU/m3. Thus, the application of Potok unit allowed to reduce the concentration of E. coli to almost zero.
 
This test was conducted as a part of the Memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation, that was signed on June 22, 2018 between SPF Potok Inter (Russian Federation), Loofen Co., Ltd (Republic of Korea) and Gyeonggi-do Province in the Republic of Korea. German Technical University of Applied Sciences presented results of tests of Potok units

German Technical University of Applied Sciences presented results of tests of Russian Potok air decontamination units in Moscow and German Hospital 

The research studies showed, the bacterial burden in the operating room is reduced to ≤5 cfu/m³ with Potok decontamination system. This means that Potok technology meets the Swedish SIS-TS 39: 2015, the EU GMP-Guide, and also Russian SanPiN 2.1.3.2630-10, GOST 52539-2006 “Air cleanliness in hospitals”, and it can be used instead of HEPA-filters. 

July 10, 2017 one of the largest universities of Bavaria - Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden and the Russia-based engineering company Potok Inter, a unique technology developer and a manufacturer of patented professional equipment for air decontamination, published study results of efficiency of Potok equipment in operating rooms in Russia and Germany.

The purpose of this work was to evaluate the decontamination potential of the Potok technology both in an experimental setting in the research operating room of  the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden with standalone air decontamination units and in a clinical setting in a real operating theater in Moscow were the Potok system is an integrated part of the ventilation system.

Efficiency was estimated by comparison of values of a bacterial burden in operating room without Potok unit (background level) with a contamination level after working of unit – in twenty-four hours in Germany, and after 2 hours in Russia.

Experiments showed an impact of the Potok unit on the bacterial contamination of the room air (concentration of staphylococcus, streptococcus).

For the measurement directly on the operating room table the activity of the units led to a decrease of the bacterial air contamination from 5 cfu/m³ to 3 cfu/m³ in average. For the instrument table and the periphery of the room this reduction was from 5 cfu/m³ and 12 cfu/m³ down to 4 cfu/m³ and 5 cfu/m³ respectively.

Efficiency of the Potok technology was confirmed by the results of the measurements in the real-life setting of the operating theater in a Russian hospital. For the three different measurement locations results showed a decrease of more than 87%.  The initial bacterial burden of 37 cfu/m³ on the operating room table and 39cfu/m³ on the instrument board and the periphery of the room had been reduced to≤5 cfu/m³ in average for every measurement point.



Research description

At the first stage of the study two units were positioned in an experimental operating room-setting according to the Swedish standard SIS-TS  39: 2015.  Three parallel samplings were performed at predefined measuring points.  These are located directly on the operating table (1.2m above the ground and ≤0.5m from the operating site), on the instrument table and in the periphery of the room near an exhaust opening.

Sampling was done by impaction method, in which an air volume of 1000 liters was collected per 10 minutes via a columnar opening onto a blood agar plate. The culture media were then incubated for 3 days at 35 °C +/- 1 °C. After incubationthe plates were photographed and colonies were counted manually and documented as colony forming units per cubic meter of air (cfu/m³).

Already in the pilot studies to this work the impact of the surgical clothing on the germ load  in  the operating room  was  investigated.  On the basis of these results, Swedish surgical gowns were chosen as standard for further experiments. This so- called "Clean Air Suit" is a disposable product and consists of polypropylene. (Fig. 1)

The measurements were performed during a one-hour surgical simulation (6 measurements a 10 minutes). The simulated surgery was performed by 7 people. In order to simulate as much as possible a reality oriented process, 4 persons represent the surgical team directly at the operating table, one person acts as an anesthesiologist and 2 other persons move through the room during the surgical simulation. (Fig. 2)

As a second step, the activity and effectiveness of the Potok system was tested in a real-life setting in an operating theater in a hospital in Moscow, where Potok decontamination units have been operating for more than 9 years. (Fig. 3)

The operating room is equipped with Potok system. The unit consists of 4 inactivation blocks (to be installed as a part of hermetic false ceiling)with optional space for shadow less lamp.For such research study concentration of microorganisms in the air was measured during two days in Moscow hospital. Indoors there were 7 people (strength of the normal surgical team).

Actuality

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 5-10% of hospital patients are infected with healthcare-associated infections (HCAI). They appear across the globe and affect all countries, regardless of the degree of their development. The most important pathogens of HCAI are staphylococcus, streptococcus, Escherichia coli, rotaviruses, etc. They circulate in medical facilities, form strains that are characterized by high virulence, resistance to antibiotics, antiseptics and disinfectants.

2-2,5 million Russians suffer with HCAIevery year. Approximately 1/3 of hospital-acquired infections is connected with aerogenic transmission of pathogens. 30% of HCAI can be avoided.

Potok units are designed to significantly reduce these figures, by enhancing microbiological safety of the air in premises with high hygiene requirements.

Medical center in Moldova took a favorable view of Potok devices working

On June 9, 2017 Scientific-manufacturing firm Potok Inter received a positive feedback on the working of its equipment in Clinica Familia, the center of reproductive medicine for infertility treatment (Republic of Moldova, Kishinev).

Recall, since 2016 to the present Potok standalone recirculating units “Potok” have been operating in the "Clinica Familia". They are placed in rooms with high hygiene requirements (clean rooms of category A) - embryology, operating and resuscitation rooms.

Potok equipment provides the necessary microbiological safety of the indoor air, which protects the weakened organism of the mother and the newborn from nosocomial infections.

According to Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal agency that works to provide oversight and control of wellbeing and consumer rights and protection of the citizens of the Russian Federation), hospital-acquired infections affect an average of 5-15% of hospitalized patients, and in high-risk departments - up to 40%, which is 2-2.5 million people per year, however, the statistical method of accounting is imperfect and a number of researchers believe that the actual incidence is tens of times higher than the declared rate.

By the recall, in the "Clinica Familia" Potok devices are used every day, for all the time of working they have never failed. «Potok 150-M-01» effectively decontaminates air in the premises, increases the effectiveness of general disinfection measures, so the use of this medical equipment is economically viable.

German Technical University of Applied Sciences conducted tests of Russian Potok air decontamination units in Moscow Hospital
