Kanstat (Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose )

Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose

KANSTAT Hemostat is used adjunctively in surgical procedures to assist in the control of capillary, venous,
and small arterial hemorrhage when ligation or other conventional methods of control are impractical or
ineffective. KANSTAT Hemostat can be cut to size for use in endoscopic procedures.
KANSTAT Hemostat can be used in many areas of surgery, e.g. cardiovascular surgery,
haemorrhoidectomy, implantation of vascular prostheses, biopsies, lung operations, surgery to the face and
jaw, gastric resection, operations to the throat or nose, liver and gall bladder operations, gynaecological
operations, thoracic and abdominal sympathectomies, neurosurgery, especially cerebral operations, thyroid
operations, skin transplantations, treatment of superficial injuries.
KANSTAT Hemostat is indicated also for adjunctive use in dental application to assist in the control of
bleeding in exodontia and oral surgery. It may also be used to help achieve haemostasis after single or
multiple tooth extractions, alveoloplasty, gingival haemorrhage, impactions, biopsies, and other procedures
in the oral cavity

Pegelak®

PEGELAK sutures are synthetic absorbable sterile surgical sutures which are flexible strands composed of a copolymer prepared and synthesized from 90 percent glycolide and 10 percent L-lactide (derived from glycolic and lactic acids) and are indicated for use in soft tissue approximation.

The empirical formula of the copolymer is –[(C2H2O2)x(C3H4O2)y] n – where, x:y=9:1. The braid structure of the suture is coated. Coated suture is prepared by coating suture material with a mixture composed of equal parts of calcium stearate and poly(glycolide-co-L-lactide) [Glacomer 37] (–[(C2H2O2)x(C3H4O2)y] n – where, x:y=3:7).

Pegelak sutures when introduced into a living organism are absorbed by that organism and cause no undue tissue irritation. Copolymer and the coating with calcium stearate have been found to be non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, and elicit only a mild tissue reaction during absorption.

The sutures are coloured violet to enhance visibility in tissue. The suture is also available undyed (natural, beige).

PEGELAK complies with the requirements of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for absorbable surgical suture and the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) for sterile synthetic absorbable braided suture (except for occasional slight oversize in some gauges).

Pegelak® Rapid

PEGELAK rapid sutures are synthetic absorbable sterile surgical sutures which are flexible strands composed of a copolymer prepared and synthesized from 90 percent glycolide and 10 percent L-lactide (derived from glycolic and lactic acids) and are indicated for use in soft tissue approximation.

PEGELAK rapid sutures when introduced into a living organism are absorbed by that organism and cause no undue tissue irritation. Copolymer and the coating with calcium stearate have been found to be non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, and elicit only a mild tissue reaction during absorption.

PEGELAK rapid is the lower molecular weight form of PEGELAK, which enables rapid hydrolysis/absorption.

The sutures are undyed (natural, beige).

PEGELAK rapid complies with the requirements of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for absorbable surgical suture and the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) for sterile synthetic absorbable braided suture (except for occasional slight oversize in some gauges).

INDICATIONS
PEGELAK rapid is indicated only for use in soft tissue approximation where only short term wound support (7-10 days) is required including ophthalmic surgery. PEGELAK rapid is not indicated for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues.

Sutures are for single use only.

Coated suture is prepared by poly(glycolide(%30)-co-L-lactide(%70) and calcium stearate mixture.

Polyglycolic acid sutures when introduced into a living organism are absorbed by that organism and cause no undue tissue irritation. Polymer and the coating with calcium stearate have been shown to be non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, and elicit only a mild tissue reaction during absorption. PEGESORB has excellent handling and knotting properties with minimum tissue response.
