Injeq IQ-Tip® system is designed for safe detection of CSF in pediatric lumbar punctures
The Injeq IQ-Tip® spinal needle incorporates a unique design innovation that enables bioimpedance measurement from the needle tip. The contoured needle hub provides excellent grip, offers great tactile feedback and is compatible with widely used luer syringes. The Injeq IQ-Tip® analyzer is designed to provide real-time detection of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Connected to an Injeq IQ-Tip® spinal needle with a single use sterile Injeq IQ-Tip® cable, the system indicates the presence of CSF at the needle tip with an audiovisual alarm.
The clinical performance and safety of the Injeq IQ-Tip® system have already been evaluated in three clinical trials in university hospitals.

Injeq was founded by a team of clinicians and technology experts who identified a solution for a well-known medical need – to make blind spinal punctures more precise and safer. Thanks to their interdisciplinary backgrounds in the fields of medicine and technology, they knew that various tissues and anatomical structures conduct electricity at different frequencies in a slightly different way. This electrical conductivity is analyzed with Injeq IQ-Tip® analyzer. When the Injeq IQ-Tip® spinal needle reaches the spinal canal, the Injeq IQ-Tip® system identifies the spinal fluid. The analyzer attached to the needle then alerts the physician with an audio signal and the analyzer display indicates high conductivity. Today Injeq is proceeding with CE certification and registration through Notified Body TÜV SÜD, aiming for European market entry in accordance with the MDR in the first quarter of 2021.
