Product category: Injection molding

More than 50 years of experience in injection molding enable the production of sophisticated and high-quality plastic parts

With a team of highly motivated employees and modern machinery Röchling in Waldachtal produces sophisticated and high-quality plastic parts using injection molding

More than 70 injection molding machines inside and outside the clean room enable the production of injection molded parts with an individual weight of 0.1g to 1,800g.

The wide range of injection molding techniques in Waldachtal includes

  • Multi-component injection molding
  • Multi-component injection molding and combination of extruded and injection-molded parts
  • Micro injection molding
  • Endless injection molding

Multi-component injection molding

Through multi-component injection molding either two colors or injection-molded components of two different thermoplastic materials can be automatically and cost-effectively combined in one process. This process brings many advantages, such as lower unit costs, process reduction, improved product properties and unique design.

More information about this process can be found at www.roechling-medical.com/waldachtal.

Micro injection molding

Micro injection molding is concerned with particularly small parts of weights, some of which are well below one gram. In the course of miniaturization the mastery of micro-injection molding in terms of production technology is an important prerequisite for the realization of demanding projects in medical technology.

Product category: Extrusion

With more than 20 extrusion lines inside and outside the clean room with an output of 200 kg/h medical tubes with wall thicknesses from 0.2 mm, braidings with a wall thickness of less than 0.1 mm and profiles with wall thicknesses of 0.6 mm - 17 mm are produced in Waldachtal.

With a wide range of materials and colors, the most demanding customer requirements can be realized. Röchling Medical Waldachtal AG is available to its customers right from the start to help them select the materials and production technologies for an optimal result.

As a system supplier Röchling Medical offers you the opportunity for one-stop shopping. Under controlled clean room conditions and using a wide variety of processing technologies we are able to produce, assemble, and package your products with low germ content and high quality. Co-extrusion is becoming more and more important as the sensitivity of drugs in the pharmaceutical industry increases.

The term co-extrusion stands for the merging of plastic melts of the same or different types. This enables a layer structure with different material properties. This process is used in combinations to produce special mechanical, optical or barrier properties.

Röchling Medical offers the combination of two to six layers.

  • Storage of aggressive filling goods (e.g. hazardous substances)
  • Improvement of the water vapor barrier (moisture-sensitive materials)

  • improved barrier properties compared to monomaterials
  • possibility of different coloring of the individual layers (e.g. UV protection or company-specific color aspects)
  • po product contact through the barrier layer if it is in the middle

In extrusion thickened plastics are continuously pressed out of a shaping opening under high pressure. By means of co-extrusion, several layers can be built up using different plastic melts and thus special mechanical, optical or functional properties can be achieved. Profiles, medical tubes, braidings and shafts for a wide range of applications in pharmaceutical administration, fluid management and surgery are created under normal or clean room conditions for the medical technology.

Downstream processes complete the offering range

As your ideal system partner Röchling Medical Waldachtal AG accompanies you from the product idea to the finished product. The wide portfolio of manufacturing and assembly technology expertise also includes post-processing processes such as laser marking, machining, labeling, gluing, deburring, ultrasonic welding and printing (laser printing, pad printing, digital printing, etc.).

The NICCI sensor is a showcase project of the comprehensive possibilities of Röchling Medical Waldachtal AG:

Sensor for non-invasive monitoring
Patient monitoring during and after surgery is of great importance. However, not in all cases permanent monitoring, which is usually carried out conventionally by means of arterial access, is medically indicated and therefore non-continuous blood pressure measurement systems are often used. However, fluctuations in blood pressure can remain undetected.

Getinge has developed the permanent and non-invasive NICCI sensor for precisely this patient group.

The device, which is similar in design to a PC mouse, is attached to two fingers for measurement. The pulsating blood flow is detected by infrared sensors and kept constant by counter-pressure on the artery. In addition to permanent monitoring, a further advantage of the product over conventional blood pressure cuffs is its single-use concept, which prevents contamination, especially in the highly sensitive surgical environment.

Röchling Medical Waldachtal AG is responsible for the production of the NICCI sensor. Many of the sensor's components are injection molded and further processed to the finished assembly in a clean room with purchased parts from certified sub-suppliers, such as sensors or foils. In addition, there are further refinement steps such as laser printing, laser welding and the coding of inline sensors. In several workshops the product design as well as the design for manufacturing was optimized considering the complex assembly steps.

Thanks to the early involvement of Röchling engineers, not only was the product improved, but the entire manufacturing process was optimally planned and an economical solution was achieved.

In the meantime, three different size variants of the sensor are manufactured and packaged ready for sale in Waldachtal.
