Parylene Conformal Coatings
Biocompatible and biostable, SCS Parylene coatings provide medical devices and components excellent moisture, chemical and dielectric barrier protection. Parylene also has a low coefficient of friction for applications where lubricity is important.

ParyFree®
Available exclusively at SCS, halogen-free ParyFree® offers the same host of beneficial properties expected from other commercially-available Parylenes, but with improved barrier properties over traditional halogen-free variants. To verify its efficacy as a halogen-free material, SCS ParyFree coatings were tested in accordance with BS EN 14582:2007 at an independent testing facility. The results show that there are no detectable levels of chlorine, bromine, fluorine or iodine in ParyFree coatings, validating the coating's use in halogen-free applications. Additionally, SCS ParyFree complies with the biological testing requirements for ISO-10993 and USP Class VI Plastics.

SCS Parylenes comply with biological testing requirements for ISO 10993 and USP Class VI Plastics. In addition, they comply with the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive and EU directives regarding CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, Reprotoxic) and ED (Endocrine Disrupting) substances. SCS maintains Device and Drug Master Files with the US Food and Drug Administration that may be referenced by commercial coating service customers in support of their FDA submissions. Among the documents in these files are ISO 10993 biocompatibility reports and a variety of other tests and references that support the use of SCS Parylenes on medical devices, including long-term implants. SCS also works with the Notified Bodies of coating service customers to furnish necessary documents as they pursue approvals in Europe and the rest of the world.
