CFRP support structure for Cray X skeleton by German Bionic Systems

CFRP instead of aluminum – there is a lot of potential in the support structure
Product developers at German Bionic Systems had defined a lighter and more rigid
support structure in the specifications of the fourth generation of the Cray X exoskeleton.
For this purpose, the previous aluminum bending part was to be replaced by a CFRP
structural component. The company turned to SGL Carbon to develop and manufacture
the ready-to-install component.

Exosceleton robots wearing CFRP

German Bionic Systems launched the fourth generation of its Cray X exoskeleton to actively relieve the lower back and it has not only become smarter, but also significantly lighter. Instead of the previous aluminum solution, SGL Carbon has developed a more rigid support structure made of CFRP that only weighs half of what its predecessor weighed.
