Suture HS Fiber® (UHMWPE)

HS Fiber® is a non-absorbable braided sterile surgical suture prepared from fibers of ultra high molecular weight, long-chain linear polyethylene.

Characteristics
  • Inter-locking core technology provides all fiber configurations with a sturdy core within center of the suture to act as a backbone for better knot tying and handling characteristics
  • Excellent strength: stronger than steel on a weighted basis
  • High flex strength
  • More abrasion resistance when compared to polyester
  • E-braid construction for better handling and excellent knot strength
  • Vibrant tracer colors with tri-axial patterns for enhanced visibility

Indications: HS Fiber® is indicated for use in approximation and/or ligation of soft tissue, including the use in cardiovascular surgeries and the use of allograft tissue for orthopedic procedures.

Actions
HS Fiber® sutures elicit a minimal inflammatory reaction in tissues, followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. HS Fiber® suture is non-absorbable and there are no significant changes in tensile strength retention known to occur in vivo.

Sterilization
Ethylene oxide is recommended for UHMWPE suture.
Gamma sterilization is not recommended due to potential loss of suture strength.

Packaging
HS Fiber® is available needled or non-needle in pre-cut lengths. Order Sterile in one dozen boxes or on a custom bulk or spool to customer specifications.

Suture Riverlon™ (Nylon)

Riverlon™ is a nylon monofilament non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of the long-chain aliphatic polymers Nylon type 6 or Nylon type 6/6. Monofilament Nylon suture may be either dyed black (logwood), dyed blue (FD&C Blue No. 2) or white (undyed). Nylon suture is coated with silicone.

Characteristics
  • Uniform diameter of the suture
  • Maximum flexibility of the strand
  • Excellent and consistent knot security
  • Minimal memory
Indications
Riverlon™ suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological procedures.

Actions
Riverlon™ suture elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissues, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue.

Tensile Strength
As with any nylon suture, though not absorbed, progressive hydrolysis of the suture in vivo may result in gradual loss of tensile strength over time. Nylon suture should not be used where permanent retention of tensile strength is required.

Sterilization
Ethylene oxide.

Packaging
Micro Nylon non-absorbable is a monofilament and is clear, dyed black (logwood extract), or blue (FD&C Blue No.20.) It is available in USP sizes 12-0 through 2. The suture is supplied sterile in precut lengths attached to various needle types in one-dozen boxes, or non-needled on ligating reels.

Suture Visipro™ (Polypro Pink)

Visipro™ is a monofilament non-absorbable surgical suture composed of a strand of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin with a fluorescent red dye.

Characteristics
  • Easy suture visualization when exposed to a black light
  • Consistent diameter
  • Smooth surface for easy tissue passage
  • Excellent and consistent flattened knot security
  • Minimal memory and reduced fraying
Indications
Visipro™ suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological surgery.

Actions
Visipro™ suture elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissues, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue.

Tensile Strength
Polypropylene sutures are non-absorbable and there is no known significant change in strength retention in vivo.

Sterilization
Ethylene oxide.

Packaging
Visipro™ suture is supplied sterile in precut lengths attached to various needle types in one dozen boxes and also on a cassette.
