GNU Health
The Free Health and Hospital Information System. GNU Health is award-winning HIS that has been declared an official GNU package by the Free Software Foundation, and adopted by the United Nations University.
GNU Health is a Free/Libre project for health practitioners, health institutions and governments. It provides the functionality of Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Hospital Management (HMIS) and Health Information System (HIS).
Its modular design allows to be deployed in many different scenarios: from small private offices, to large, national public health systems.
GNU Health is an official GNU package, part of the GNU System.

Laboratory Information System (Occhiolino)
GNU LIMS, also known as Occhiolino, is a modern Laboratory Information Management System for the healthcare and biomedical sectors, that has emerged as a GNU Health sub-project.
The Laboratory Modules manage the request, creation and evaluation of laboratory analyses. As far as the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) functionality, GNU Health is very flexible. You will be able to link it to the patient chart and to the financial management of the Health Center. It is able to link to financial management, and create services and invoices / billing from the laboratory requests.
Occhiolino has been integrated to GNU Health since the very beginning. Starting 3.2, there is a dedicated repository to concentrate the development efforts and to better serve the GNU Health community.

Thalamus
The Thalamus project provides a RESTful API hub to all the GNU Health Federation nodes. The main functions are:
Message server: A concentrator and message relay from and to the participating nodes in the GNU Health Federation and the GNU Health Information System (MongoDB). Some of the participating nodes include the GNU Health HMIS, MyGNUHealth mobile PHR application, laboratories, research institutions and civil offices.
Authentication Server: Thalamus also serves as an authentication and authorization server to interact with the GNUHealth Information System
Thalamus is part of the GNU Health project, but it is a self contained, independent server that can be used in different health related scenarios.
