Dunn promotes a variety of medical tubing solutions at Compamed

Wayne, Pa. (October 25, 2019) — Dunn Industries, a Tekni-Plex business unit, will exhibit the latest medical tubing innovations at Compamed (Hall 8A / F12), Messe Dusseldorf, November 18-21.

Dunn manufactures precision multi-lumen tubing for steerable catheters commonly used for robotic surgery and laparoscopic devices. More recent applications include endovascular devices. Often, this type of tubing includes one or multiple inner lumens for working channels, and small lumens around the perimeter which are used for steering wires.

Dunn also manufactures custom medical tubing for diagnostic and interventional devices from a wide range of thermoplastics. These include polyether block amides (PEBAs), thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs), thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), polyamides, polyolefins and much more. Tubes are available with diameters as small as 0.008 inches (outer diameter) x 0.004-inches (inner diameter), and diameters as large as 0.480 inches. Configurations include single and multi-lumen, coextruded layers and stripes, and longitudinal wire or fiber reinforced.

Additionally, medical catheter manufacturers throughout the world use Dunn’s mandrels to retain critical lumen tolerances during the manufacturing (extrusion, braiding, coiling and jacketing) of minimally invasive catheter shafts. Low friction material properties and ultra-smooth surfaces allow these mandrels to be easily removed after catheter shaft assembly. They are available in precise diameters from 0.020 to 0.250 inches with tolerances as low as +/- 0.0005 inches.

About us

Company details

Founded in 1987, Dunn Industries is a premier supplier of catheter mandrels and thermoplastic small-diameter tubes for medical device manufacturers around the world. Operating from a state-of-the-art, 16,000-square-foot facility in New Hampshire, our precision extruded medical tubing solutions are utilized for prototypes, clinical trials, and larger-scale production of catheter shaft assemblies and other minimally invasive components.

Our team of medical extrusion engineers provides customers with medical tubing solutions at tight tolerances and on quick turnaround, a combination of speed and accuracy unsurpassed in the industry. This unique versatility and flexibility are woven into our DNA. Going back to our founding as a family-owned company, Dunn Industries is nimble enough to deliver responsive, personalized service yet robust enough for today’s increasingly competitive medical production landscape. Today, as part of the Tekni-Plex family of companies, we also have the global resources and strength to meet the worldwide demand for precision, small diameter medical tubing solutions.

Our customized, small-diameter medical tubes come in a wide range of thermoplastics and in a wide variety of configurations, from tapered (bump) tubing and those incorporating longitudinal wires to microextruded tubes as narrow as 0.25 mm (less than 1 French size). Our precision catheter mandrels allow catheter manufacturers to retain exact lumen dimensions throughout production and assembly operations.

As medical tubing needs become more exacting and time-sensitive, we invite you to lean on our decades of experience to help meet your most demanding manufacturing goals.Over the past three decades, Dunn Industries has served the medical device industry with precision polymer extrusions used in life-saving, minimally invasive instruments and other healthcare devices.  Development assistance and short custom tubing lead times for device prototypes has been the hallmark of our service.  Our customers equally value our scale-up ability to support clinical trials and production.

We continue to innovate our extrusion technologies as medical devices become smaller and more complex in order to reach more distal regions within the body.  This includes smaller and more lumens per tube, multiple polymer layers, thinner walls and tapers along the length.
