Aurum+ Bariatric Bed
The aurum+ bariatric bed has been specifically designed for size, strength and practicality.
Key features of the aurum+ bed such as width adjustment, optional integrated weighing scales and adjustable safety rails provide a safe environment within which to improve the moving and handling of larger patients up to 440kg (69st).
The aurum+ bariatric bed is compliant with the latest EN60601/2/52 medical standard. Of all the bariatric beds available, the aurum+ expandable bariatric hospital bed is one of the simplest to use.

Deprimo® Floor Level Bed
The deprimo® floor level bed has been developed to reduce the risk of vulnerable patients injuring themselves by falling out of bed, increasing patient safety and reducing the costs of in-hospital injury.
The fully articulating bed has a 12cm (4.7”) ultra-low height and is available with crash mats that are placed either side of the bed to enable a patient to simply slide on and off the bed.
Innovative patented stowable safety rails can be easily and safely stored under the mattress platform.

Bari Foam+ Bariatric Mattress
The Bari Foam+ Mattress is an alternative to our dynamic air mattress and provides pressure relief for medium risk patients.
The mattress is unique with its width adjustable feature to compliment the aurum bariatric bed. Width adjustment is achieved through two foam extension inserts which slot either side of the mattress when the bed is extended.
The mattress is suitable for patients up to 413kg (65st) and is made up of a series of combustion modified foam to give the mattress its pressure relieving qualities.

The Aurum Riser Recliner Chair* has been specifically designed for bariatric patients to provide comfort, manoeuvrability and mobile hoist compatibility.
The chair is mounted on four heavy duty castors with rear brakes for easy transportation and stability. Space around and underneath the chair and the lifting mechanism accommodates mobile hoists for easier patient transfers.
Bespoke seat width, depth and height mean chairs can be tailored for individual patients or kept standard for general use while the dual motor means the functions of the chair can be operated individually to maximise patient comfort and support.

bari-suit® Bariatric Training Suit
Designed by Benmor Medical, the bari-suit® is a bariatric training aid that allows nursing staff to develop the specialist skills required to safely manage a bariatric patient by allowing them to practise techniques using realistic scenarios within a safe environment.
Designed to be worn by nursing staff during training sessions the bari-suit® comprises of 3 realistic body sections (arms, torso and legs) which allow the wearer to experience first-hand the mobility restrictions an obese patient faces on a daily basis The suit provides colleagues with a pseudo bariatric patient to practise moving and handling techniques without endangering themselves.
Additional attachments enable users to alternate between the 2 different shapes of a bariatric patient, an 'apple' and a 'pear. The suit is supplied with a wheeled carry case for easy transportation.

New and Improved CPD Course
Since 2015, we have trained well over 2,000 healthcare professionals on the Management of the Plus Sized (Bariatric) Patient. These healthcare professionals have joined us from a variety of NHS trusts and Social Services all over the UK to develop their knowledge of this complex patient group.
We continually review how we run the courses, taking on board the feedback we are given to ensure this course is as enjoyable and useful as it can be to delegates in attendance.
We often receive comments from course delegates who wished they had an extra day to practice the manual handling techniques demonstrated in the course – because of this our Bariatric Specialist and Course Trainer John Humphray has decided to change the format over the 2 days.
The new course will be going live in September and aims to incorporate more practical sessions to help delegates consolidate their knowledge.
To ensure that the theory element is still incorporated into the training, delegates will be given some pre-course reading before they attend. This will give delegates more time throughout the two days to practice moving and handling techniques, trial the various equipment and work in groups to simulate different scenarios that they may face in their job roles.

Bringing People Together During End of Life Care
The team here at Benmor have recently been touched by the remarkable fundraising efforts of a gentleman raising money to purchase an Aurum+ bed for Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington.
The fundraising was inspired by his own experience of spending quality time with his late wife at the hospice, with the hope of making a difference to future patients and their loved ones.
When care staff organised for a larger bed to be installed in the room, the couple were greatly appreciative of being able to watch films together and listen to music. The bed even had some space for their beloved guinea pigs.
Staff at the hospice recognised the difference when the larger bed was installed and identified that it would also benefit future patients, they were therefore in full support of the need to purchase a larger bed.
The Aurum+ was selected as a suitable option for the hospice due to its ability to expand in width from 36” – 48” (3ft – 4ft). At its smallest size, it is the same width as a standard medical bed however when expanded it is wide enough to accommodate two people.
We were very moved to learn that a larger bed like ours can not only be used for bariatric patients but can also provide some form of comfort for inpatients and their loved ones at hospice’s like Oakhaven.
