StatStrip® and StatStrip Xpress®2 Glucose Meters

StatStrip Glucose Hospital Meter System Receives FDA Clearance for Capillary Testing with Critically Ill PatientsOnly glucose meters with FDA clearance for use with ALL patients including critically ill
CLIA waived for use with arterial, venous, and capillary samples from critically ill patients

ONLY glucose meter with no known clinical interferences—over 8,000 medications tested

Measures and corrects for interferences, which cause incorrect glucose results in other meters and patient mismanagement
Proven safety and accuracy

In one study of over 17,300 capillary results from critically ill patients that were compared to lab results
In another study of 1,698 arterial and venous results from critically ill patients with over 257 medical conditions were compared to lab results
Improved accuracy results in less insulin misdosing and better outcomes for critically ill patients

Use of any other meter with critically ill patients is considered off label by the FDA and high complexity testing under CLIA

Allegro - A Fast, Simple, Capillary Blood Analyzer

Allegro is a compact, point-of-care (POC) analyzer that features a clinically important menu of 12 measured and individually selectable tests, plus 6 calculated tests. All tests are measured with disposable, ready-to-use cartridges or test strips, and are easily performed by non-technical personnel.

Allegro uses a very small capillary blood drop for all blood tests, which eliminates the need for venipunctures or a trained phlebotomist. With cartridge test times of 6 to 9 minutes and the ability to measure two cartridges simultaneously, Allegro provides rapid results. Having results during the patient visit—not after—is more effective for patient/clinician meetings; reduces office calls, letters, and follow-up visits; and improves patient compliance with care recommendations.

Point-of-Care Fingerstick Testing for Hemoglobin and Hematocrit

Only Point-of-Care (POC) Meter to Measure Both Hb and Hct
The StatStrip Hemoglobin and Hematocrit Meter System (StatStrip Hb/Hct) is the only POC system to provide anemia screening and monitoring with measured, not calculated, Hb and Hct tests. This important breakthrough is possible because of new, patented electrochemical technologies developed by Nova Biomedical. Along with tiny, fingerstick capillary samples (1.6 µL) and results in 40 seconds, StatStrip Hb/Hct improves clinical decision making at the point of care.

Accurate anemia assessment
Accurate anemia evaluation requires both measured Hct (red cell volume) and measured Hb. However, current POC meters only provide a calculated estimate of Hct.

Calculated Hct assumes a normal Hct-to-Hb relationship [Hct % = 3 x Hb (g/dL)], and is therefore inaccurate whenever Hct is abnormal.

This is particularly evident in red cell structural abnormalities, hemoglobinopathies, and hemolytic conditions caused by infection, autoimmune disease, toxins, drugs, and chemicals. These conditions necessitate measured Hct because calculated results can negatively impact treatment.

Smallest sample
StatStrip Hb/Hct’s 1.6 µL fingerstick capillary blood sample makes routine Hb and Hct testing and anemia screening virtually painless for the patient. It also enables frequent monitoring of acute patients for blood loss.

Lactate Plus Meter - Blood Lactate Meter for Endurance Training and Conditioning

The Test
Lactate Plus measures blood lactate (muscle performance/perfusion indicator) very quickly on a tiny drop of blood. This results in a virtually painless, fast, and accurate lactate testing. Lactate is the premier indicator of aerobic conditioning for athletes and a key predictor of competitive performance.

Less Pain
Lactate tests on other meters are painful and therefore difficult to incorporate into routine training. They need 5 to 25 microliters of blood and require a wide-gauge lance to pierce the skin deeply enough to obtain a large sample. Lactate Plus requires only 0.7 microliters of blood. This allows for the use of the thinnest, most shallow, and least painful lancing devices available, which increases the athlete’s tolerance for testing.

Fastest Analysis Time
The older technology used by other lactate meters can require as much as 60 seconds for test results. Lactate Plus takes only 13 seconds. This speed allows the ability to establish a rapid metabolic assessment and possible intervention.

Very Accurate
Lactate Plus is made by Nova Biomedical, the world leader in hospital-based, blood lactate analyzers. More hospitals worldwide use Nova for lactate measurements than any other brand. The same high standards for accuracy and reliability that are required for hospital use have been incorporated into the Lactate Plus meter.Eliminates Calibration Strips or Calibration Codes
All other lactate strips require a unique calibration code to be entered into the meter before a strip is used. This code can be entered manually or by inserting a code strip, which comes with each vial of strips. These codes are extremely important because they can change the lactate result by up to 30%, depending on the manufacturing lot of the strip. Failing to use a code or using the wrong code can result in very inaccurate lactate results. Nova strips do not need calibration codes or strips, eliminating both a time-consuming step as well as a source of real error.

Low Cost
Lactate Plus meters and strips are priced less than most other similar devices.

Nova Max® Plus™ - Self testing

The Best Overall Glucose Monitor
Nova Max Plus incorporates advanced technology for accurate and precise self-monitoring of blood glucose and ketones by people with diabetes. Nova Max Plus has the most comprehensive features for fast, easy, and error-free blood glucose and ketone monitoring.

Glucose and Ketones on the Same Monitor
The Nova Max Plus Glucose Meter automatically converts to a ketone meter by inserting the Nova Max Plus Ketone strip.

Why Ketone Measurements Are Important
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) is a life-threatening metabolic complication of diabetes with a mortality rate of 2%-10%.1 DKA is the leading cause of hospitalization, morbidity, and death in children with Type 1 diabetes.2 The use of a blood test for early detection of increased blood ketone levels can help to avert DKA.3-5 According to the ADA, blood ketone testing should be performed on sick days and whenever glucose is greater than 250-300 mg/dL.

No Coding Needed
Miscoded meters can lead to glucose errors as large as 50%.

No Maltose Error
Keeps some patients from getting falsely elevated glucose results from the presence of other sugars in the blood such as maltose.

Tiny 0.3 Microliter Sample Size
Less pain for patients.

Thin 33 Gauge Lancets
Thinnest on the market—virtually painless lancing—especially important for patients who test frequently.

Glucose Results in 5 Seconds, Ketone Results in 10 Seconds
