Burr-free Electrochemical CNC Grinder Model SG-2060(R)

The SG-2060(R) is a 3 axis CNC production Electrochemical Grinding machine. The machine will perform burr free grind cuts on a variety of medical devices and other precision parts. Optional 4th axis fixtures are available for needle pointing and special medical device manufacturing such as Menghini points, bone drills and other complex rotary and indexing applications. Servo controlled design for high precision rotation and repeatability. The optional 180 degree index table allows part loading during the grinding operation. Loading time is reduced to almost zero for maximum productivity.

Now available at Tridex are a variety of Burr Free Electrochemical Grinders for your most challenging operations. Medical Device manufacturing operations such as tube slot cutting, bevel points, stylet notch cuts, bone shaver tooth forms, over-mold details and similar parts can be easily and quickly cut burr free in one pass. ECG is an ideal alternative to EDM and laser cuts where speed, surface finish and recast are a problem. ECG cuts are cool with never a danger of a heat affected zone, recast layer or work hardening of the material. Stainless steels, Nitinol, Cobalt-Chrome and Nickel alloys all cut easily with the Burr Free ECG process.

-Point grinding of tubes, wires, bars: cannulas, styletts, lancets,  Trocars, Kirschner wires (K-wires), Steinmann nails, Menghini, Franseen, single bevels, facet points

The CS-1E Electrochemical Tube Cutoff is the right machine where completely burr free cuts are required such as stainless tubing and small diameter wires or bars. Precision Abrasive Cutoff Machine Model CS1-A

The CS-1A Precision Abrasive cutoff is the best choice for metal cutoff in Stainless, Nitinol, Inconel, Tungsten, Titanium, Hast-X, MP-159 and other hard materials where speed, accuracy and finish are critical. Using a thin rubber bond abrasive wheel supported by carbide wheel guides and standard grinding coolant the CS1-A cuts easily through tough materials such as nickel alloy forging blanks, tungsten rods, titanium bars, carbide tools and dental alloys from 0.012″ to 3.15″ (0.3mm to 80 mm) diameter. Although there are many ways to cut metal, only Electrochemical Machining provides the possibility of a completely burr free result. When burr free machining is required, Electrochemical Grinding is often the most cost effective choice. Commonly known as ECG, this unique technology combines Abrasive Grinding with Electrochemical Machining to provide stress free, low force cutting with no burrs and no metallurgical damage such as recast, heat affected zone, burning or work hardening. Electrochemical Grinding is widely used for tube cutoff of materials such as stainless steel hypodermic needle tubing where deburring is not practical. The technology is also commonly used in aircraft applications such as fragile honeycomb materials and turbine airfoils. The very low cutting forces of the ECG process can easily grind thin, fragile and heat sensitive materials. Metal hardness and conventional machinability are mostly irrelevant to the effectiveness of ECG cutting.
