Haptic-visual Learning System for Surgical Operations
We are supporting the further training of surgeons by developing the “HaptiVisT“-system, an interactive training system for cochlear implants. “HaptiVisT“is structured as a so-called serious game with hidden learning. The system enables surgeons to virtually perform surgeries risk-free on real patient models. Visitors will be able to test the system at our booth 10/G05.

Low-cost alternative to whole slide scanner
The Fraunhofer Institute IIS has developed an affordable, simple to use and reliable alternative to desktop slide scanners. Within the automated imaging process our “iStix®” technology “stitches” together individual microscopy images in real-time and without a motorized stage. The result is a panoramic image or a WSI dataset. Benefits depending on the field of application are for example, easy documentation for results in high resolution overview images and accelerated diagnostics.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS is one of the worlds leading application-oriented research institutions for microelectronic and IT system solutions and services. It is the largest of all Fraunhofer Institutes.
Research at Fraunhofer IIS revolves around two guiding topics: In the area of “Audio and Media Technologies”, the institute has been shaping the digitalization of media for more than 30 years now. Fraunhofer IIS was instrumental in the development of mp3 and AAC. In the context of “cognitive sensor technologies”, the institute researches technologies for sensor technology, data transmission technology and data analysis methods. The results of this research have been applied in the areas of communication and application solutions for the Internet of Things, digitalization of human sensing, product and material monitoring
