Versatile Biosignal Acquisition Platforms for Rapid Prototyping and Medical Device Development (Presentation at Connected Healthcare Forum)

Biomedical research and device development faces a great variety of challenges which have to be met within strict time & cost constraints. PLUX’s versatile biosignalsplux (www.biosignalsplux.com) and BITalino (www.bitalino.com) biosignal acquisition platforms provide open hardware and software solutions to fulfil engineering requirements in biosignal research, education, rapid prototyping, and product development as well as all necessary tools for 3rd party integration using official software APIs. This presentation aims to explore and demonstrate the possibilities of developing new & cost-efficient solutions based on versatile biosignal platforms with examples of PLUX’s previous success stories and current projects.

BITalino (r)evolution

BITalino is an award-winning hardware and software toolkit that is redefining biomedical education, research and prototyping, by making otherwise inaccessible tools available to everyone. It gathers a unique community, has the most complete offeringof software tools in its segment, and it's simple to use (no electrical skills required).

The hardware consists of a modular wireless biosignal acquisition system that can be used to acquire data in real time (e.g. EMG, ECG, GSR, EEG, and many others), interface with other devices (e.g. Arduino or Raspberry PI), or perform rapid prototyping of end-user applications. The software includes a comprehensive set of programming APIs, a biosignal processing toolbox, and a framework for real time data acquisition and postprocessing.
