EksoGT™: Learning to walk again, step by step
The EksoGT™ is an exoskeleton for gait training under therapeutic supervision. It provides people with paralysis resulting from spinal cord injuries, stroke, MS or other neurological disorders with a tailored rehabilitation option. Patients with residual muscle function can use their own muscle strength. The innovative SmartAssist software makes it possible to control both halves of the body independently and in an adap- tive way. Sensors measure the residual muscle function available 500 times a second and adapt the support provided accordingly – from 0 to 100%. This concept is truly unique: the patient is not just moved passively, but can actively walk using the strength they have. This is of great benefit with hemiparesis, for example. In addition, the EksoGT™ with SmartAssist also offers people with neurological disorders (e.g. stroke) an extensive training pro- gramme: Exercises for early mobilisation in the preambulatory phase in preparation for actual gait training, including exercises that train the bending and lifting of the knee and the proper placement of the feet. Training with the EksoGT™ not only improves quality of life. Therapeutic activities can also have a positive effect on accompanying symptoms such as neuropathic pain, bladder and bowel function, spasticity, mental health, cardiovascular function and bone density.
The EksoPulse Analytics software launched in early 2017 digitally records data such as standing and walking times and the pa- tients step count with the EksoGT™ and documents it so that it is 100% anonymous. The cloud-based software solution synchronises the therapy information in real time and enables the quantifiable measurement and analysis of treatment progress by the physiotherapist. Thanks to the straightforward management, the therapy can be tailored precisely to the situation of the individual patient.

Worldwide, Ekso Bionics works together with more than 200 rehabilitation clinics and hospitals.
