YANEX-1

Mobile pulsed Xenon-based UV system primarily designed for express decontamination of air and indoor surfaces in rooms of up to 300 сubic meters with high (99.9%) efficiency from:

  • Bacteria;
  • Viruses;
  • Fungi;

And most importantly resistant forms of microorganisms, such as hospital bacterial strains:

  • Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA);
  • Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE);
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa;
  • Acinetobacter baumannii;
  • Proteus mirabilis, mold fungi;
  • Spore microorganisms;
  • Mycobacteria, etc.

Yanex system is currently deployed in Russia in:

  • surgical, therapeutic, oncological, ophtalmological hospitals departments;
  • obstetric-gynecologic hospitals and perinatal centers;
  • other facilities with high sanitary requirements.

The system is compact and portable thus it can be easily moved by one person.

The pulsed xenon bulb is located inside the housing, which protects it from dust and damage. Before the start of decontamination, the bulb is lifted into the working position.

The system is turned on and off automatically in accordance with the working mode set by the operator. The operator uses the control panel to enter the room size and decontamination effectiveness or to set a special mode. Then a built-in microprocessor activates the system for the set time (session), which ensures the required disinfection efficacy.

Rooms are disinfected by exposure to bright light pulses of ultraviolet continuous spectrum, which has a powerful biocide effect on microorganisms in the air and on open surfaces of the treated room.

The system is automatically turned off only when a sufficient dose has been provided to ensure necessary disinfection effectiveness, regardless of the state the pulsed xenon lamp is in. In other words, the system ensures high quality of room disinfection.

Mobile and stationary units for waste water and drinking water treatment and decontamination with different capacity (1.0 – 100 m3/hour) are based on pulsed ultraviolet technology.

Dissolved organic pollutants are eliminated by treating the water with high-intensity pulsed UV light of continuous spectrum, generated by state-of-art pulsed xenon UV lamps.

Irradiation spectrum of such lamps covers the whole ultraviolet, visible and near-infrared regions. Water is treated with short (a few tens of microseconds) light pulses of very high intensity.

It has been proven, that such water treatment eliminates each and all pathogens, including the most persistent virus spores (poliomyelitis, hepatitis and others), neutralizes biotoxins.

Pulsed UV destructs broad class of toxic organic substances (chlorine-, phosphorus- and nitrogen-containing pesticides, phenols, petrochemicals, organohalogen compounds and others) and remains efficient even with high initial bacterial and chemical contamination.

Together with conventional waste water treatment methods this technology prospectively allows for creating a closed water circulation scheme at various facilities.

The units are fully automatic and warrant high quality of the treated water. The water quality control system adjusts energy consumption depending on the initial contamination level. The cost of water treatment and decontamination depends on the pollutant type.

Scientific and Industrial Enterprise “Melitta”, Ltd. was established in 1990 with the sole purpose of developing pulsed xenon UV technology; first xenon UV unit was built the following year. On December 28, 2004, Russian Ministry of Health issued the license for mass production of the pulsed xenon UV units. Melitta is certified to ISO's management standards ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003.

Currently, over 2000 units are operational in more than 400 healthcare facilities in Russia, USA, Mexico, Canada and other countries.

Over the years pulsed xenon UV technology won numerous scientific and innovation awards, including 2010 Russian Federation Government Prize in Science in Technology for developing and implementing the pulsed plasma-optical technology in space medicine. Modified pulsed xenon units are currently used to disinfect all cargo moving to the international space station.

Research and development of the technology is ongoing, in particular focusing on improving the bulb technology, determining the radiation levels required to exterminate viruses, mycobacteria, spores and fungi, as well as the efficiency in eliminating resistant strains of tuberculosis.
