, an Israeli company that has developed a comprehensive digital diabetes care platform
, has launched an initiative to support World Diabetes Day Awareness at the annual Medica 2017 conference
in Dusseldorf Germany which takes place on 13-16 November, 2017.
World Diabetes Day (WDD) is on 14 November, promoting the importance of taking action to confront diabetes as a critical global health issue and this year focusing on women and diabetes. It falls on the second day of Medica 2017, the world's leading and largest medical industry trade fair. With a company booth at the conference, as part of the Israeli Pavilion, GlucoMe has chosen to dedicate a significant amount of its conference efforts to promote and support awareness of World Diabetes Day and of the global epidemic that affects over 215 million adults worldwide.
GlucoMe's campaign began two weeks prior to WDD with a social media campaign (on LinkedIn and Facebook) reminding the public daily of some of the harsh facts relating to diabetes. Viewers have been alerted to the fact that 46.5% of adults with diabetes are undiagnosed; that women with type 2 diabetes are 10 times more likely to have coronary heart disease; that 1 in 7 births is affected by gestational diabetes; and more. GlucoMe's social media campaign continues through to WDD and can be followed on their LinkedIn and Facebook pages.
GlucoMe is topping off its campaign by sponsoring a prize for Medica 2017 visitors who share their support from its booth on social media.
Yiftah Ben Aharon, CEO, explained why they decided to launch their campaign. "GlucoMe is dedicated to simplifying the way patients, caregivers, and medical professionals manage diabetes around the world, by means of its digital technology, but also by means of promoting awareness of the toll that the disease is taking on individuals, medical professionals and healthcare systems worldwide," he said.
Visitors at Medica 2017 will be able to see GlucoMe's campaign poster at Hall 16 G40, where they will have an opportunity to show their own support for World Diabetes Day. About GlucoMe Digital Diabetes Care Platform

World Diabetes Day was created in 1991 by IDF and the World Health Organization in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes. World Diabetes Day became an official United Nations Day in 2006 with the passage of United Nation Resolution 61/225. WDD is the worlds largest diabetes awareness campaign reaching a global audience of over 1 billion people in more than 160 countries. The campaign draws attention to issues of paramount importance to the diabetes world and keeps diabetes firmly in the public and political spotlight. The campaign is represented by a blue circle logo that was adopted in 2007 after the passage of the UN Resolution on diabetes. The blue circle is the global symbol for diabetes awareness.
