MCube can automatically record and evaluate blood smears, using computer-assisted methods to detect malaria pathogens in thick blood smears. The system is based on the microscopic scanning platform SCube® which supports automated scanning of slides in different magnifications. The system is designed to support routine diagnostic processes as well as for use in clinical vaccine trials. Digitizing blood samples also offers further advantages and possible fields of application. A digitized blood smear is a virtual 3D slide of the view seen under the microscope. Users can interactively navigate the virtual slide on their computers and use it to mark the pathogens that have been detected, for instance, or to examine them more closely.
The “Endorama®“ system of Fraunhofer Institute IIS provides image panoramas in real times and thus allows a complete digital and image-based documentation of an endoscopic examination. An application example for the panorama endoscopy is the endoscopic examination of the bladder by the use of a rigid or flexible cystoscope. During the examination, the “Endorama®“ system fuses the acquired endoscopic images from the bladder to a panoramic image.
