WoundLyser 1M is a CE-marked medical device, which is especially offered for a patient-related use for rinsing wounds during a hospital stay. This point-of-use filter includes a hollow fibre membrane, which has a retention of 7 log steps of Brevundimonas diminuta
. According to the recommendations of the commission for hospital hygiene and infection prevention at the German Robert Koch Institute, the WoundLyser provides 0.2 μm filtered water for wound cleansing. Within the period of one month, the wound shower can be left to the patient for further use in outpatient care.

WoundLyser is a CE-marked medical device. This disposable water filter is a point-of-use filter with a hollow fibre membrane. Its retention efficiency is 7 log steps for Brevundimonas diminuta, the smallest water bacterium. This complies with the FDA definition of sterile filtered water. The filter thus holds back all microbes present in supplied water, e.g. Pseudomonas and Legionella bacteria. To prevent microbial colonisation of the filter as a result of splash water it is recommended to disinfect the housing and shower rose with alcohol wipes after every use of the WoundLyser. The hygienic design and the use of bacteriostatic material at the filter outlet provide additional protection against retrograde contamination. WoundLyser has an operating time of up to 1 month depending on water quality and delivers bacteria-free water at constant flow rates, providing patients with reliable protection against waterborne bacteria.
After the end of its operating time the used filter must be replaced and disposed of. It is very easy to install and replace the WoundLyser on all common shower hoses because of the G½ inch thread. A unique bar code on each filter guarantees full traceability.
