TRANSFORMATIONAL HELIUM PLASMA TECHNOLOGY
J-Plasma® is an advanced energy device combining the unique properties of cold helium plasma with RF energy. Helium plasma focuses RF energy for greater control of tissue effect, enabling a high level of precision and virtually eliminating unintended tissue trauma.
Surgical Applications Overview J-Plasma® has been shown to be safe and effective in numerous surgical procedures where precise delivery of energy coupled with minimal thermal spread to adjacent tissue is important for controlled cutting, coagulation, and ablation of tissue.
“The existing technologies have considerable limitations. For me, J-Plasma has already replaced a device thats been the gold standard for a long time.”

Most procedures performed by a High Frequency Desiccator utilize ten watts of power or less. The Derm 101 and Derm 102 are economical, 10 watt high frequency desiccators, thoughtfully designed to give practitioners the ability to perform in-office, minor skin procedures such as the removal of skin tags, benign lesions and premalignant lesions. These Bovie units allow practitioners to provide better patient care in the office, at a sensible price, saving the patient time and money, while increasing their practice revenue.
The Bovie Bantam | PRO, A952 is a High Frequency Desiccator with cutting ability. You might call it a split personality. One half of the unit is a high frequency desiccator, an upgrade to our very popular Aaron® 940. The other half is a Bovie Generator, giving you 50 watts of cutting power and coag capabilities – plenty of power for most cutting procedure performed in the doctors office.
The Bovie Specialist | PRO is the affordable solution for the busy physician office or specialty facility. The multi-purpose unit features a modern push button design and is capable of most monopolar and bipolar surgical procedures. The Specialist | PRO offers 5 energy outputs with up to 120 watts of power; modalities include Cut, Blend, Coagulation, Fulguration and Standard Bipolar. The unit is designed with dependable safety features like BovieNEM™ (Neutral Electrode Monitoring) pad sensing technology, BovieDED™ (Digital Error Detection), audible alert tones and self-test circuits. The Bovie Specialist | PRO satisfies the physicians electrosurgical needs with safety, reliability and convenience.
Bovie Medical today is a leading maker of medical devices and supplies as well as the developer of J-Plasma®, a patented new plasma-based surgical product that is a transformational tool for surgeons.
It all began with far simpler technology.
The company was born in the late 1970s as a manufacturer of disposable penlights for the medical industry. The success of this line prompted the development and manufacture of battery-operated, tubular products, with the same type of assembly manufacturing technologies. A new line of cauteries was also a success.
Good design and manufacturing combined with smart marketing and excellent customer service moved the company forward.
As Bovie Medical grew, requests from the industry drove our design and development teams to manufacture and distribute additional products. Bovie Medical now sets the standard for surgical center and hospital-based electrosurgical generators and accessories with a full range of state-of-the-art models.
In the late 1990s Bovie acquired the rights to J-Plasma which utilizes a gas ionization process to produce a stable, focused beam of plasma that provides surgeons with greater precision, minimal invasiveness and an absence of conductive currents through the patient during surgery.
With further development to included the addition of a retractable blade, which allows it to function as a cutting tool that leaves behind almost no collateral thermal injury.
Still in the early stages of commercialization, we believe J-Plasma will be a transformational product across a wide range of surgical specialties.
Today, the legacy of Bovie continues as we design and develop the most advanced electrosurgery generators and accessories and advanced energy devices to meet the needs of todays surgeon.
