Liquid Handling Materials and Filters

Welcome to a new era of sample protection.

Ensure purity and eliminate uncertainty with POREX®  FORTRESS™ Liquid Barrier Pipette Tip Filters.

It’s not uncommon for laboratory managers to specify two different pipette tip systems depending on their labs’ varied needs: filtered pipette tips and others that are non- filtered. Like most things in life, the choice often comes down to laboratory economics. A filtered pipette tip can better ensure sample purity and prevent cross contamination. But filtered pipettes have traditionally cost more than unfiltered pipettes; therefore, labs often stockpile both types of pipettes depending on their needs. What’s more, original filtered pipettes are sometimes made with additives that can result in leachables and extractables that can compromise sample purity.

But two things are upending lab economics. First, in recent years the cost differential between pipettes with filtered tips and non-filtered tips has decreased. Second, a new pipette tip filter has entered the market to change the paradigm even more.

The new POREX® FORTRESS™ liquid barrier pipette tip filter is certified as the first pure liquid barrier filter with no additives or contaminants. Made with a proprietary polyethylene (PE) matrix material, the new pipette tip filter completely seals out liquids and aerosols and contains no Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), cellulose gum or other additives or sealing substances. Tested by independent analytical laboratories for its purity, it offers lab managers and researchers a completely inert, hydrophobic filter that virtually eliminates cross contamination and obtains the highest level of sample purity possible.

Now it’s possible to obtain the highest level of testing assurance, without breaking the bank. The math is simple: make sure all of your pipettes incorporate the FORTRESS pipette tip filter. The integrity of your lab is worth it.
