Hydrophilic Coating

LVD Hydrophylic Coating is a versatile coating systems applicable to many substrates used in medical devices. Once applied the Hydrophylic Coatingattracts and retains water to the surface enhancing the surface lubricity reducing possible trauma to tissues when navigating devices in minimal invasive procedures.

The Hydrophylic Coating system is primarily designed to enhance interventional procedures in cardiology; peripheral including neuro ; urology and oral mucosal therapies.

Hydrax Plus is the result of more than 10 years of research and development in hydrophylic coating. Our UV technology coatings are manufactured with the strict ISO 13485 control. The results are two product lines with excellent lubricity and low friction properties. Our Polymer technology allowed us to design coating with longer durability and high resistance to wear and low particulate release under stress. Hydrax gives to our devices a reduction of friction, improving the pushability and trackability through difficult anatomy and crossability of the injuries. The coating is biocompatible, non-cytotoxic and does not induce thrombogenicity.  It is designed to enhance the manipulation of the medical devices, but without losing control by the specialist. Moreover, our Hydrax Plus line brings even better navigation, taking the physical and mechanical properties of the device to the maximum. With a proven biocompatibility, these coatings also improve the comfort of patients and thanks to its excellent durability it increases the maneuverability of the devices in several procedures.

ANTI FOULING COATING
LVD BIOTECH anti-fouling coating is designed to repel proteins, bacteria and cells over a prolonged period of time. The coating can be applied to many polymer surfaces used in diagnostics; molecular and cell Biology research and in cell culturing systems.

The anti-fouling coating is bonded to the substrate surface and has a shelf life of many years. This coating is biocompatible, has no leachable’s, does not trigger any thrombogenic or immune response.

Applications that could benefit from the anti-fouling surface treatment range to:

ANTI MICROBIAL COATING
LVD BIOTECH anti-microbial coating is designed to attract and kill bacteria upon contact. The coating is bonded to the surface and creates a charged surface capable of attracting bacteria and kill on surface contact.

The anti-microbial coating is developed using our proprietary polymer technology and provides a durable surface to many substrates including medical grade PDMS (silicones) and Metals. The coating is very suitable for applications that demand antimicrobial surface properties to implantable devices for medium and short term duration like :

Multilayer – co-extrusion

Coextruded tube consisting on 2 or 3 layers of different materials.
This allows the possibility to obtain results taking advantage of the characteristic of each one of the materials which form the layers. Due to the wide range of possible combinations, this product is a reference for detailed customized solutions.
Moreover, the co-extrusion allows for a variation in the percentage of each layer (intermittent extrusion) in the same tube, so variations on hardness, flexibility and radiopacity can be obtained. The most common Applications in the Medical field are: Shaft catheters with inflation channel integrated, steerable catheters, electronic sensors channels; in the coronary, peripheral and neurovascular fields.
