Application example: Sias is a leading developer and supplier of innovative multi-tipped robotic liquid handling systems and robot friendly functional modules for Laboratory Automation. Sias' products are used for life science and generic laboratory liquid handling applications and OEM integration.

The robots are equipped with 1, 4, or 8 needles. Each needle can be controlled separately in it's XYZ-motion. The needle is used as a 'sample transporter'. Because a system liquid such as water is used and separated by a small air bubble from the sample, the sample never gets into the pump. After sampling the needle is flushed.

Due to the compact design of the pumps, the pump system resides in the robotic arm, leaving the deck free for application samples and modules.
Sias has proven the concept for more than 10 years. Sias has gained a good knowledge of the operational parameters of the pumps so that they can guarantee the precision and accuracy of the pumps and their systems.

Controlled Dispense Module µDispense in analytical instrumentation

For the controlled delivery of smallest liquid amounts, HNP Mikrosysteme presents the Micro Dispense Module μDispense with integrated flow sensor at Compamed 2016.
The dispense module μDispense guarantees safe liquid handling both for new device developments and for the replacement of syringe pumps in existing systems. It communicates via syringe pump commands and offers the same interface for mechanical integration.
The integrated flow sensor regulates the volume flow in the range from 5 to 1000 μl/min. The specified setpoint volume flow is reliably achieved in the shortest possible time (see diagram).
In addition to pipetting smallest liquid amounts during the dosing process, rinsing with high flow rates of up to 72 ml/min is also possible.
The core element of the module is a long-lasting and robust micro annular gear pump. µDispense has a modular design. The flow sensor is optional and the module can be equipped with up to three fluidic inputs, with filters on request. The wetted components are selected according to application-specific requirements.
For precise dispensing and delivery tasks in the area of analytical instrumentation, µDispense offers development engineers a suitable alternative to the commonly used syringe pump.

Micro annular gear pumps (mzr®-pumps) which make conventional applications more effective and open new technology fields are made at our location in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania from the initial idea over the construction and assembly up to the validity check.

Started in 1998 by a team of 5 in Parchim, our company now counts 78 employees. Since January 2013, the company is located in Schwerin.
In addition to construction, development, quality assurance and assembly, we have a technical service team and a specialized technical sales team consisting of engineers and scientists.

Due to our innovative ideas in the field of micro technology, we are considered as one of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania high-tech companies and have received numerous awards. In 1999, we were awarded the Ludwig-Bölkow-Technology Prize by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Schwerin. In the same year, we received the Design Award in the category ‘product design’. In December 2010, we were selected as a prize-winner of the nationwide innovation competition ‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ for the continued development and optimization of our micropumps.

In May 2016 our CEO Dr. Thomas Weisener was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 in the category Business Development.
