Wearables are becoming an integral part of healthcare. Thanks to intelligent sensors and digital connectivity, health data can be collected continuously, risks can be identified at an early stage, and patients can be monitored beyond the hospital or physician's office. At MEDICA 2025, exhibitors demonstrated how remote monitoring can improve healthcare long term while strengthening preventive care.
In our talk with Roberto De Souza, Partner and CFO at CARDIO'ID TECHNOLOGIES LDA, he explained how AI-powered wearables support people with cardiovascular disease at home following a stroke or other cardiac event. The systems continuously monitor activity data, notify physicians when abnormalities are detected, and provide personalized recommendations for exercise, nutrition, and medication. Through dashboards, healthcare professionals can monitor treatment progress at any time.
Another example is presented by Antti Tauriainen, CEO & Managing Director of Screentec. In his view, acceptance of wearables and health monitoring technologies has increased significantly in recent years. At the same time, he sees considerable potential for the broader use of intelligent sensing technologies in hospitals and home healthcare. Widespread adoption of wearables could accelerate the shift from a healthcare system focused primarily on treating illness to one centered more strongly on prevention.
Our video report from MEDICA 2025 shows how connected wearables are extending healthcare beyond the hospital and supporting preventive care in everyday life.
