Imagine you could see the inside of the human heart as if you were right in the middle of it – three-dimensional, alive and so real that every heartbeat opens a window into the functioning of this vital organ. This is exactly what virtual reality (VR) makes possible for cardiologists today. At MEDICA 2024, Spika Tech s.l. showed how VR improves diagnoses, optimizes training and enhances the quality of surgical procedures.
VR is also making impressive progress in medical training. The glasses-free stereoscopic system from Vision Engineering Ltd. enables ophthalmology and ENT-specific procedures to be trained. Surgeons can practice complex procedures in an ergonomic and realistic environment. VR reduces typical strains such as back pain, neck pain and eye fatigue that are often associated with traditional microscopes.
