Heart surgery is difficult even for experienced surgeons and therapeutical success is not always certain. Physicians need to rely on their experience when choosing and planning the correct intervention. A computer model could help them in the future: The digital twin heart could be fed with patient data and then simulate whether an intervention will be successful. Prof. Gernot Plank from the Medical University of Graz explains in our video how this works, what development looks like and what future applications are conceivable.
