The MEDICA TECH FORUM will take place for the 15th time this year from November 11 to 14, 2024 in hall 9.

It is again a mirror image of outstanding applications and exciting innovations from research and industry. Artificial intelligence is at the forefront: it affects all segments and enables manufacturers and users to lift products and processes to a new level. It is also important to take a look at other important technologies and regulatory frameworks. MEDICA TECH FORUM means benefiting from expert knowledge and gaining valuable insights for your own entrepreneurial future!

The program highlights include:

  • Top innovators: digital and AI patents
  • From design to production with AI and VR
  • AI in Quality Management and Regulatory Affairs
  • Update: China registration
  • Clinical evaluation under MDR – Lessons learned
  • Value-based healthcare

Responsible for the program are the industry associations SPECTARIS and MedicalMountains. The moderator, Tobias Wobbe from Euskirchen, will navigate through the four-day program and guide his audience expertly from lecture to lecture. The forum language is predominantly English.

At the start of MEDICA on Monday, the TECH FORUM will offer a presentation on the latest “Technology trends and regulations (AI, Cybersecurity, Apps, IoMT)” from 14:15 to 14:45, presented by Dr. Nadine Stech from Seleon GmbH. Visitors are invited to learn about certain key trends that are related to the constantly changing technology landscape and new regulations.

This will be immediately followed by the highlight “AI in [medical technology]: Increasing efficiency through/with the data factory approach” until 15:30. Frank Schmidt from M&M Software GmbH will use an exemplary case study from medical device development to illustrate the successful implementation of AI in a data factory.

As a further highlight, Dr. Timo Weiland from novineon CRO GmbH will speak on Tuesday from 12:30 to 13:00 on the topic of “Clinical Evaluation under MDR - Lessons learned: What experience has been gained so far?”. After five years of experience with clinical evaluation since the MDR came into force and the application of its various regulatory pathways defined in Article 61, it is time to take stock. Dr. Weiland will present the ten most important milestones on the way to a successful clinical evaluation report for new medical devices as well as for “legacy devices”.

On the same day, the attorneys Dr. Nina Müller and Niklas Schmidt from Gottschald Patentanwälte will give a presentation on “AI in MedTech - Uncovering hidden champions among MEDICA exhibitors by patent analysis” from 13:00 to 13:45. The presentation will analyze the patent portfolios of selected MEDICA exhibitors at the interface of AI and medical technology. In particular, the influence of ChatGPT on patent applications will be examined and current and future trends will be highlighted.

Thursday is the last day of MEDICA, on which visitors will once again be presented with current topics from the medical technology industry in the TECH FORUM. As a highlight, Dr. Manuel Heurich from BinDoc GmbH will explore the question of how medical technology can close gaps in care in the context of hospital reform from 12:45 to 13:15 and present the results of the feasibility study “Telemedicine in Baden-Württemberg”. The study, carried out by BinDoc and commissioned by the Bosch Health Campus, offers insights into hospital reform and shows how telemedicine can contribute to better healthcare, and the methodology and results can be discussed in this context.
