Surgeons need to clear their sights every now and then, too. Especially during minimally invasive interventions imaging is used to check the progress and to ensure the patient’s safety. And currently, not only Augmented Reality is brought into the OR to make images available live during surgery. AI and robotics join the team, too. Surgery can be very strenuous for a surgeon, as he often has to bend over the patient in a rigid position for hours. For the first time worldwide, a surgical microscope that can be controlled by head movements was used at the University Hospital Zurich. This makes surgery not only more comfortable, but also faster.
