, The global spread of SARS-CoV-2 has presented us all with major social and economic challenges over the past year. Many familiar processes were changed, others extremely accelerated. MEDICA / COMPAMED 2020, for example, was held completely virtual for the first time with around 1,500 exhibitors, setting the stage for future hybrid trade fairs - a mixture of online and in-person events. Trade fairs and conferences provide important, economic impetus and set the tone for the future. We at Messe Düsseldorf assume that MEDICA will be held again in Düsseldorf as on-site trade fair in November. This year too we are working with great commitment every day to create the best possible conditions for successful face-to-face meetings. Of course, the health protection of all participants is always our top priority. People are longing for exchange, networking and the opportunity to share knowledge and develop new ideas together in a direct way, especially after the experiences of the last few months.
