Fighting tumors with microbubbles

Dear Sir or Madam,

If a patient has a liver tumor or metastases, the organ needs to be partially or wholly removed. Ultrasound now promises a gentler treatment: focused waves create microbubbles in the tissue that destroy tumor cells. This procedure gets currently tested at the University Hospital Magdeburg. Heart rate monitoring, step-counting, sleep tracking: Wearable technologies keep evolving, offering more and more useful applications. Usually worn close to and/or on the surface of the skin, they are equipped with special sensors to detect and analyze information concerning physical signals or ambient data. This allows wearers to get immediate biofeedback.

One lesson the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us is hospitals are short on staff and time is a most valuable and scarce resource in health care that should not be wasted. That is why it only makes sense to automate repetitive and recurring tasks that are big time wasters and keep hospital staff from doing more important work.
