The REGIOMED Klinikum Lichtenfels is the lighthouse project of the "Green Hospital Initiative Bayern" (Bavarian Green Hospital Initiative), which launched in 2014 and aims to increase energy efficiency and promote sustainability in Bavarian hospitals. Lichtenfels took things one step further by constructing an optimized new building where sustainability is an integral part.

CT of COVID-19 versus CT of influenza virus pneumonia

An open-access American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR) article investigating the differences in CT findings between coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pneumonia and influenza virus pneumonia found that most lesions from COVID-19 were located in the peripheral zone and close to the pleura, whereas influenza virus was more prone to show mucoid impaction and pleural effusion.

Electrodes from leaves: efficient, economical and aesthetic

A research team from Leibniz IPHT in Jena has built electrodes with outstanding optical and electronic properties from leaves. The researchers have coated leaf veins with copper and thus transformed them into electrically conductive and optically transparent electrodes. Designed on the basis of nature, the leaf-structure electrodes could be used to design novel solar cells, LEDs or displays.

It is time for a world champion once more at the 8th MEDICA MEDICINE + SPORTS CONFERENCE 2020 (MMSC) on 18 and 19 November, 2020 in Düsseldorf. This year, MEDICA will welcome Florian Mennigen, a former top athlete, on board.
