ST&D will be launching the new Pulse Wave Velocity system at Medica. There is much published research to show that measurement of PWV gives a direct indication of arteriosclerosis which provides an early warning of hypertension, diabetes and risk of heart attack.
The ST&D system for the first time provides a quick and easy to use method of measuring PWV at a relatively low cost. In addition highly repeatable results can be obtained without the need for skilled operators.
The system consists of a wireless arm-mounted unit with disposable sensors and a laptop. It is aimed initially at the research community, but will be followed by a general purpose system designed for easy use in primary care.
