Hose, connector and bag in, finished set out: Automating the handling of flexible parts

Knoll Feinmechanik masters the handling of flexible parts. Unwinding, cutting, gluing, assembling, testing - from the automation of a single step to an interlinked assembly system, every conceivable scope can be implemented, including filling technology for liquid media.

Handling flexible parts is not easy - as anyone who has ever struggled with their garden hose knows. The team at Knoll Feinmechanik specializes in handling hoses. The equipment from Umkirch near Freiburg enables complex handling steps to be automated; a wide variety of medical hose and bag sets are produced on it. In order to grip the tubes securely, the machines are equipped, among other things, with the handling head, a special gripper system developed in-house that ensures a secure and reproducible assembly process.

From modular assembly cells to fully automated production lines

The automation specialists at Knoll-Feinmechanik implement both customized systems based on detailed engineering specifications and projects where only the desired end result is specified. The latter tasks are solved with Knoll Feinmechanik's modular system: tried-and-tested modules, each with its own control system, map a process step and are configured in a line or within an island. If required, they can be supplemented by further steps or flexibly retooled. From the semi-automated solution to the fully interlinked assembly system, all systems meet the requirements for use in the cleanroom. In the area of laboratory automation, equipment is developed and realized with which, for example, measurements and analyses of environmental pollutants can be carried out.
