Strategic acquisition strengthens global hypotube supply chain and enhances precision tubing expertise
Freudenberg Medical, a global CDMO partner to medical device and biopharmaceutical companies, has expanded its metals business with the acquisition of Fuji Seiko based in Yaita, Japan. Fuji Seiko is a leading manufacturer of high-precision micro tubing for minimally invasive devices. This acquisition strengthens Freudenberg Medical’s global hypotube capabilities, complementing its existing metals operation in Galway, Ireland, and enhancing its technical expertise in metallurgy and micro-scale metal tube manufacturing.
Freudenberg Medical’s Galway operation has a 20-year history of quality and innovation in metal tubing and currently supplies over 10 million units of hypotubes, assemblies, steerable metal components, and specialty needles annually to more than 70 medical device companies worldwide.
“Fuji Seiko has built an exceptional reputation over the past 30 years for quality, precision, and reliability,” said Michael McGee, CEO of Freudenberg Medical. “This acquisition supports our vision to create the most vertically integrated metals supply chain in the medical device industry. By bringing Fuji Seiko into the Freudenberg family, we are enhancing our ability to serve OEMs worldwide with reduced lead times, lower supply chain risk, and greater control from raw material through finished components.”
“For our metals customers, the benefits of this acquisition are immediate,” said Steven Langan, Vice President & General Manager Metals at Freudenberg Medical. “By acquiring Fuji Seiko, we can deliver faster lead times and increased responsiveness to our customers. We plan to expand Fuji Seiko’s tubing size range and metallurgy capabilities—while preserving the exceptional Japanese engineering and quality the company is known for.”
Fuji Seiko’s Yaita operation is ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certified, serving medical device customers in Asia, Europe, and North America. The acquisition strengthens Freudenberg Medical’s global footprint and reinforces its commitment to providing localized service and support in key markets, including the Asia-Pacific region. By the beginning of next year, Fuji Seiko will be rebranded as Freudenberg Medical Japan.
