Park Yoon-gyu, 2nd Vice Minister of Science and ICT, attended the Data Awards Ceremony held during the ‘2022 Data Talk Festival (formerly Data Promotion Week)’ on the 20th and presented awards and plaques to organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of the domestic data industry with outstanding achievements and achievements in the data industry through their hard work throughout the year, and encouraged their hard work.

 

At this year’s Data Awards Ceremony, awards were given to a total of 36 organizations and individuals in 6 categories.

 

In the Data Quality Award category, a total of 6 organizations won awards. The ‘National Health Insurance Service’, which contributed to the expansion of public medical services and improvement of service quality, and ‘Nice D&B’, which contributed to increasing sales and developing overseas export markets through corporate data provision services based on corporate credit information, received the Minister of Science and ICT Award.

 

The Korea Food Safety Information Institute, Intertek, Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, and Media Channel received the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency President’s Award.

 

In the Data Voucher Best Practice category, a total of 9 organizations were honored with awards. ‘Sije’, which contributed to the digital transformation of the clothing industry, ‘Captos’, which contributed to reducing medical costs and preventing lifelong diseases, ‘P&C Solution’, which contributed to expanding the use of AR technology by developing a joint-based voice recognition AR interface, and ‘Finders AI’, which improved consumer convenience by advancing computer-based unmanned store solutions.

 

In the Data Stars & Global Excellent Company category, a total of 4 organizations were honored with awards. ‘Deep Scent’, which contributed to entering the global fragrance market and realistic content market through a personalized FOD (Frangrance On Demand) service utilizing real-life olfactory big data, and ‘Tea Order’, which launched a report app that analyzes customer data of self-employed stores, received the Minister of Science and ICT Award, while ‘Comercin’ and ‘Hunter Global’ received the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency President’s Award.

 

In the data target sector, a total of 9 organizations won awards. ‘Lemon Healthcare’, which contributed to national quarantine by developing a smart hospital specialized app, and ‘Plitto’, which contributed to industrial development with multilingual translation services such as artificial intelligence AI translation and corporate specialized translation, received the Minister of Science and ICT Award. ‘Metabuild’ received the Award from the President of the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency, ‘Openmate’ received the Award from the President of the Korea Intelligence Information Society Promotion Agency, ‘Solideo Systems’ received the Award from the President of the Korea Data Industry Association, ‘Shinhan Card’ received the Award from the President of the Intelligent Information Industry Association, ‘Encoa’ received the Award from the CEO of the Electronic Times, and ‘VTW’ received the Award from the President of the Korea Information Science Society. In the data opening and distribution activation sector, a total of 4 groups and individuals won awards. ‘AF&GUIDE’, which contributed to the establishment of a digital industry innovation big data platform, and ‘iSens’, which contributed to the opening of chronic disease data such as blood sugar and blood pressure and the fusion of medical data, received the Minister of Science and ICT Award.

 

In the personal information pseudonymization and anonymization processing technology competition sector, a total of 4 groups won awards. ‘4 male developers in their 20s working for a company located in Seongdong-gu’ and ‘Jangnonimus’, which contributed to the discovery and expansion of pseudonymization and anonymization processing technology, received the Minister of Science and ICT Award, while ‘re-id’ and ‘Algamja’ received the Korea Internet & Security Agency President’s Award.

 

Attending this awards ceremony, Vice Minister Park Yoon-gyu said, “In line with the government’s support, as a result of the dedicated efforts of data companies, the data market size and data sales and provision service revenue have steadily increased, and the number of data professionals has also increased significantly,” and expressed his gratitude and encouragement to the data company officials in attendance. He continued, “Now that countries around the world are rapidly pursuing digital transformation, it is time for the public and private sectors to work together and make the best effort so that our country does not fall behind the global trend and takes the lead.” He added, “In September of this year, the President announced the New York Plan, a new digital order, and I pledge to successfully complete the ‘Republic of Korea Digital Strategy’ announced as an implementation strategy for this. Based on the Data Industry Act that went into effect in April of this year, we will comprehensively establish and implement our country’s data policy through the National Data Policy Committee, which was established jointly by the public and private sectors.”
