Bio-based polymers: sustainable plastics for medical technology

Plastics are indispensable in medical technology - from diagnostic cartridges to disposable products for sterile applications. However, the consumption of resources is enormous. In the Arbomed project, we at Hahn-Schickard are working with partners to develop a sustainable alternative: diagnostic cartridges made from bioplastics based on renewable raw materials. Our goal: to conserve resources, reduce CO₂ emissions and at the same time meet the high requirements of medical technology - such as transparency, temperature stability and sterility.
