People, ideas, technologies - who moves MedTech

Hello,

Change happens when good ideas meet the right support. In the latest interview in our “Women Leaders in Health” series, Nina Wöss shows just how important targeted investments and strong networks are for real progress in digital health. Her perspective: empowering female founders, recognizing innovation potential early on, and rethinking financing – a decisive impulse for the medtech industry as well.

In addition, it is worth taking a look back at an article on holographic imaging: a technology that could set new standards in the visualization of medical processes and thus noticeably advance diagnostics, surgical planning, and research.

Tracking Breast Cancer Cells in Real Time

A research team from the University of Turku has developed the fluorescent probe "Illusia," which visualizes intracellular signals controlling cancer cell movement. This innovation enables real-time observation of how breast cancer cells spread, offering new insights into metastasis mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.

AI agent enhances decision-making in oncology

Researchers at the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health at TU Dresden have developed an AI agent that assists oncologists by analyzing complex medical data and providing personalized treatment recommendations. In simulated patient cases, the AI agent delivered correct clinical recommendations in 91 percent of scenarios, demonstrating its potential as a valuable tool in personalized oncology care.

Holography for more precise imaging

How can tissue structures be visualized more clearly without contrast agents? A quick throwback to one of our MEDICA features shows how holographic imaging uses light to reveal detailed tissue structures. This method opens up new possibilities for more precise diagnostics, improved surgical planning, and next-generation device development.
