Smart monitoring for stroke aftercare

Researchers at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) have developed a multi-sensor system to monitor heart activity, movement, and cerebral blood flow after a stroke. The goal: better long-term recovery through real-time physiological insights. The hybrid device supports both diagnostics and rehabilitation – and could be used in clinical as well as home settings.

AI in cataract surgery training

An AI-supported system analyses video footage of cataract operations using the SICS method and automatically recognizes surgical phases. This can improve the quality of surgical training and make feedback more targeted - a contribution to the further development of ophthalmology teaching.

Meet Future.

MEDICA Quiz: Solution

Correct answer: A) In rural areas, there are often no specialized aftercare services, so parents of premature babies often feel left alone. In the interview, Prof. Fischer explains that this is precisely where the "Welcome" project comes in by bridging the lack of specialist contact through telemedical care and equipment packages, thus making families safer.
