There are many hurdles facing those living alone, the elderly, and persons with health-related restrictions that can now be more easily overcome – thanks to modern technologies and services from the areas of safety, information and communication. With the new protection system ZETTLER® CareConnect, ADT and TOTAL WALTHER offer an innovative solution, that provides people the opportunity to stay in their own home as long as possible and still do so safely. The intelligent home emergency call system was also recently recognised in the framework of the initiative "Germany – Land of Long Life", which engages the opportunities and challenges of demographic change. Responsible for the development of the innovative product LOC Sens – a component of ZETTLER® CareConnect – is the company scemtec automation GmbH from Velbert, the cooperation partner of ADT in the area of AAL, Ambient Assisted Living.
The rapidly progressing demographic change in Germany engenders many questions – among others, that of how to manage living arrangements into advanced age. ZETTLER® CareConnect offers an intelligent response for the home. Together with scemtec automation GmbH, ADT and TOTAL WALTHER offer a holistic integrated solution of technical assistant systems and comprehensive service from the ADT Emergency and Service-Coordination Centre. In the framework of the Demography Congress – Future Forum "Long Life" –, the innovative system was recognised by Dr. Rita Süssmuth and Dr. Ursula Lehr in September 2011 in Berlin. Here, the advanced technology was hailed as an exemplary solution that deals with the needs and demands of older persons or persons with health-related restrictions in a particular way and makes it possible for them to stay in their own homes longer, independently and safely.
ZETTLER® CareConnect provides a striking example of efficient interaction of technology and service. The technology is based on highly developed electronic combination sensors that are affixed to previously selected locations in the living quarters and surroundings. They register the person's movements, the room temperature and the ambient light level. These currently detected readings are then compared with arranged daily profiles that were previously recorded in cooperation with the nursing care provider. The profiles reflect the individual daily routines within previously established parameters and time windows. Should deviations from the pattern of daily habits be detected – for example, if no movement is detected in the home for a prolonged period – ZETTLER® CareConnect first warns the other residents using an internal signal. If it is not de-activated, ZETTLER® CareConnect will sound an alarm and report the unusual readings to the ADT monitoring center (NSL) in Ratingen. There, security specialists will inform the responsible nursing care provider. The NSL assures 24-hour staffing 365 days a year – and so offers complete security around the clock.
ZETTLER® CareConnect also fulfils the strictest data protection requirements: All personal readings will only be compared with those in the base station inside the home. If deviating readings trigger an alarm, the alarm is automatically routed to the NSL and from there to the persons specified. No readings are stored externally. Furthermore, the system, which is easy to install, can be activated or de-activated at any time using a switch. The user's right to privacy and the right to self-determination are thus protected at all times. „With ZETTLER® CareConnect, we are adding another intelligent solution to our portfolio in the field of holistic safety systems. Along with our innovative technology, we offer our customers reliable service from one source with only one contact. Our many years of experience and our skill as operator of one of the most modern alarm receiving centers in Germany as well as system integrator for safety and security systems assures reliable protection and the best possible customer service," states Werner Schlittler, Director of Product-Management and Support at ADT and TOTAL WALTHER for the regions Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH).
