Ebola virus disease (EVD) or Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) is a severe, often fatal illness, with a case fatality rate higher than 70%.
According to WHO data update 20 August, since March 2014 Ebola virus has killed 1427 people and infected 2615 people, considering confirmed and suspected cases
One of the main symptoms of Ebola is the sudden onset of high fever. Therefore the measurement of body temperature represents an essential procedure for identifing and isolating infected subjetcs and avoiding the spread of the virus.
With Thermofocus®, Tecnimed offers its multi-year experience in the measurement of body temperature from a distance.
Because of Ebola transmission mode, a device able to take body temperature safely becomes essential.
Thanks to its exclusive measurement system, working at distance with no contact between thermometer and patient, and as temperature is taken on the forehead, an area which is not prone to secretions which may convey virus and bacteria, Thermofocus® guarantees the best hygiene, thus reducing considerably the risk of transmission during the measurement of body temperature, for both patients and operators. Such a risk is especially high when temperature is taken from many subjects within the same context and/or within a few seconds, by using traditonal thermometers working in contact with either ears or forehead, or digital thermometer which cannot be disinfected easily.
Thermofocus® is the first and most advanced clinical non-contact thermomter in the world, the only one able to guarantee, besides an absolute hygiene, a precise, instantaneous, safe and repeatable measurement, thanks to its Italian patented optical aiming system, which allows to place the device always at the right distance from the patient’s forehead.
All the others no-contact thermometers available on the market cannot guarantee the right position, which is conditioned by the operator: measurament thus changes uncontrollably.Thermofocus® is thus ideal for use in all contexts at risk, whenever it becomes necessary to adopt any possible measure against pathogens trasmission, and/or whenever a mass but accurate control is required (in airports, hospitals, schools, factories, stations, customs and places of worship).
Thermofocus has a cost much lower compared to the stationary thermal fever detectors, does not require any installation, very well accepted by passengers, no need for any hygienic cover, it is extremely easy to use and always ready for use thanks to its Manual Quick Calibration System (MQCS) and Automatic Quick Calibration System (AQCS).
In 2003 and 2009, Thermofocus® has been used all over the world in support of health autorities to help prevent the spread of SARS and A/H1N1 virus, allowing the quick and hygienic identification of infected people.
