Eight thousand installations in over more than 60 countries – this is the unparalleled success record for iLED, the world’s first LED-based surgical light. Featuring sharp contrasts and adjustable color temperature, this shadow-free surgical light made by TRUMPF has been supporting surgeons in their work in ever growing numbers of hospitals, all around the globe, since its introduction in 2005.
Accumulated know-how and experience along with users’ ideas and suggestions contribute to ongoing further development of iLED. Ergonomic aspects play an important role, especially when it comes to designing the surgical workplace. Further development of this surgical light has thus focused on even more intuitive handling.
As of the MEDICA 2010 all iLED surgical lights will be available with Adaptive Light Control Plus (ALC plus), a truly unique technology (patent pending). ALC plus enables tight electronic focusing of the light segments to guarantee optimum illumination of the wound at varying working distances. If the surgical light is repositioned during the course of an operation, the integrated motion detector automatically measures the distance to the wound area and accurately adjusts the lighting. The surgeon can focus undivided attention on the patient.
New concept for sterile handling
As of the MEDICA, iLED’s proven concept for sterile operation will be augmented by an innovative enhancement called “Sterile Light Control” (SLC). A feature known in smartphones and iPods is now gaining acceptance in the OR: intuitive control by means of the latest touch technology. Capacitive sensors on the iLED’s sterile central handle enable the surgeon to quickly and conveniently adjust light intensity during the operation. Furthermore, the sterile control knob on the iLED 5 surgical ligth lets the operating team control every important illumination function right at the OR light. A supplementary operating panel for wall mounting is also available as an option.
Premium light for the operating room
iLED models feature the world’s best illumination specs and maximum flexibility regarding adaptation to individual application situations and clients’ needs. Using the latest generation of LEDs promises 30,000 hours in operation, representing a service life of ten to fifteen years in average OR use. The unique color rendering index of up to Ra 98 ensures a natural view. The iLED provides for well-defined and uniform illumination of the operating area at all times, both on the surface and in deeper areas. The iLED 3 only needs 90 watts while its big sister, the iLED 5, comes to a mere 145 watts. As a result, the modern LED technology in these surgical lights reduces energy consumption, lessens environmental load, and generates less heat. That improves its compatibility with the ventilated ceiling and in this way improves hygienic conditions during surgery.
