The Healthcare Human Factors Group, one of the world’s largest medical ergonomics research centres, makes its first appearance at MEDICA this year. Based at the massive three-hospital University Health Network in Toronto, the Group offers design consulting and evaluation services to medical equipment manufacturers, hospitals, and others who want to ensure that their new devices, processes, or innovations are as safe and as easy to use as possible.
“For instance, we worked with Smiths Medical for a two-year period on the design of their new ambulatory infusion pump,” says Human Factors Group manager Anjum Chagpar. “And it has recently received FDA approval.”
Ms. Chagpar and Heather Colbert, a human factors engineer from the Group, will be on hand at MEDICA 2008 looking for clients world wide who need help with human factors and ergonomics design, analysis and testing.
