Samarit Canada: patient turning system for anesthetized patients

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario, Sept. 4, 2014 – Samarit Medical Industries Inc. (Samarit Canada), already well known for its ROLLBORD™ and other practical patient transfer devices, will introduce its new SAMARIT Patient Turning System (PTS) to global markets at MEDICA, the world’s largest annual medical trade fair, November 12-15 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The patented Samarit PTS allows operating room staff to rotate anesthetized prone patients with unprecedented safety and ease.

“There is really nothing else like it we know of; the patient can be turned quickly without bringing in an additional operating table – often not possible in smaller ORs – and without risking back injuries to either the patient or the staff,” explains Samarit Canada’s production manager, Mike Lalani. “The net result is a faster, smoother, and complication-free OR workflow that reduces costs.”

Lalani reports that extensive hospital OR testing involving surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other personnel has optimized the design and use of the Samarit PTS.

“The acceptance of the PTS and its consumables has been great and wide spread,” says Lalani. “We have the evidence now to show the high regard users have had for the Samarit PTS; so consequently it is ready for MEDICA.”

Lalani adds that the entire patient turning system, not including consumables, is valued at €24 thousand euros or approximately $31 thousand U.S. dollars and that “You can amortize those costs in personnel savings over a reasonable time.”

At MEDICA this year, Samarit is looking for distribution partners for its PTS who are active in the surgical area and able to train new users.

Samarit Canada is affiliated with Samarit Medical Ltd. Switzerland and manufactures Swiss-quality products under license from Samarit Switzerland. The SAMARIT companies already distribute their injury-preventing patient transfer products to hospitals in over 70 countries.

At MEDICA 2014, Samarit will be exhibiting at Booth G50 in Hall 16 and welcomes distributors, the media, and caregivers to come see our products and even try some out.
