Our entire body gets supplied with oxygen via our blood vessels. It is already well known, that smoking leads to disturbed blood flow, especially the elasticity of our vessels gets constrained.
A new medical device, called O2C (oxygen to see), can determine the elasticity of blood vessels - the so called endothelia function – by fixing a probe above a skeletal muscle. The simple use via a fixed probe is characterized by a high accuracy and reproducibility. A constrained endothelia function was not only found in smokers, but also in diabetes patients when they were eating fried and grilled food instead of cocked dishes.
The O2C applies only white light and Laser and it is without any harm for the patient. In other clinical fields it is used for the monitoring of transplants, for the prognosis of wound healing or the determination of perfusion pressure in PAD patients.
