PHYSIOMED acquires CON-TREX® product line

Schnaittach, Germany, 10 November 2010. PHYSIOMED, the German manufacturer of top-of-the-range products for both classic and innovative physical therapy, has acquired the biomechanical testing, training and therapy systems of the CON-TREX® brand. PHYSIOMED is expanding its portfolio by a further important complementary sector. In doing so, PHYSIOMED underlines its role as a skilled partner in areas of rehabilitation and sports. The entire product range shall be presented for the first time at the MEDICA trade fair at Stand C25 in Hall 9.

Until now, the CON-TREX® machines were produced and distributed by the renowned Swiss firm CMV AG. Alongside the expansion of distribution, the optimisation and further development of the existing product line are planned. In this respect, PHYSIOMED shall depend not only on its many already existing partnerships in over 70 countries, but also on its almost 40 years of development expertise.

With CON-TREX® machines, physical fitness can be purposefully evaluated and improved in a fast and reliable way. The product range currently consists of a multijoint system for testing and training major limbs in an open kinetic chain, a leg press for testing and training the lower limbs in a closed kinetic chain, a work simulator for the analysis and practice of complex motion patterns as well as a back module for the flexor and extensor muscles of the trunk. A very extensive range of add-on adapters facilitates achieving the highest level of flexibility possible. All machines permit isokinetic, isotonic and isometric load modes or a combination of them. Furthermore, a continuously passive movement and even position profiles (at a pre-defined speed or load within a movement) can also be chosen.

Unique to CON-TREX® is the so-called ballistic mode, a revolutionary advanced development of classic isokinetics: In order to compensate for the inertia of moving body parts, the expected motional progression is calculated in advance. As a result, the generated "inner strength" is continuously equalised. To the user, this means the following: the motion can be executed functionally, realistically and at the desired target speed – even with minimal effort or when large body segments are being moved.
