STAB-O-SHOC damper in trash can lids

Modern hydraulic dampers make medical technology equipment safe and soundless

The hydraulic dampers of the STAB-O-SHOC series from STABILUS perform important tasks in the manufacturing of functional specialty furniture for medical and rehab technology. Whether it is patient lifts, side rails for hospital beds, or container lids – they always absorb loads and save the strength of patients and staff alike.

Koblenz, October 2007. - User-friendly trash cans are an indispensable component of clinical waste disposal. Their design must ensure both easy opening and reliable closing of the lid. Many container manufacturers use the non-pressurized dampers of the STAB-O-SHOC series from STABILUS in their hospital trash cans. These high-quality dampers are available in numerous versions.

The compact STAB-O-SHOC HD15 dampers are ideal for trash can lids, where lower damping forces are required. They ensure that the foot-pedal actuated lids of the – usually metal – hospital trash cans don’t slam shut noisily, but in a controlled, silent manner. This not only relieves the hinge mechanisms, but it is also easier on the nerves of patients and medical staff. STABILUS offers this type of damper both for vertical and horizontal installation. Likewise, it can be installed in hospital beds where the side rails can be lowered.

Solutions for Heavyweights

The hydraulic dampers STAB-O-SHOC HD 24 and HD 29 can even handle much heavier loads. Therefore, they are highly suitable in modern patient lifts, which are not only concerned with comfort but safety (accident prevention) as well. They enable controlled opening and closing motions and support speed-driven damping – of vibrations, too! That way, they not only relieve adjacent mechanical components but also foster a feeling of safety for patients. By default, these dampers are position-specific. In addition, this series features a number of special models with decreasing, progressive or nearly linear characteristic curves. Pressure-loaded and displacement-specific STAB-O-SHOC models are also available.

At this year’s Medica (Nov. 14-17, 2007), Stabilus will present its line of dampers for medical and rehab technology in hall 14, booth E19. Like all hydraulic products from Koblenz-based STABILUS, these are quality products manufactured under conditions compliant with DIN EN ISO 9001, the global standard ISO/TS 16949, and EMAS environmental requirements.
