Microbix returns to MEDICA with record-breaking antigen sales

Microbix Rubella and CMV antigens now dominate world markets

Mississauga, Ontario, Sept. 15, 2014 – Surging world sales at Microbix Biosystems Inc. (MBX:TSX), are propelling the well-known Canadian biotechnology company and supplier of infectious disease antigens towards this year’s MEDICA, the world’s largest annual medical trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, Nov. 12-15 – with renewed confidence in the company’s future growth and innovation.

“So far, 2014 has been a fantastic year for Microbix,” says Kevin Koole, Microbix Director of Sales and Marketing when considering the company’s prospects for MEDICA 2014. “We have already smashed our previous annual sales record and in the process have become the world’s largest supplier of Rubella and CMV antigens. As a result, we have increased our workforce by one-third and signed several long-term contracts that will provide a significant base for our future growth”.

Recognizing the company’s international business successes, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce recently named Microbix Biosystems Inc. as a finalist for the provincial government’s “Ontario Going Global” top prizes. The Chamber will announce the winners November 26 at an awards gala in Toronto.

At MEDICA, Microbix staff will be available to discuss with visitors what its vigorous sales and resultant growth mean to continuing development of the company’s core diagnostic infectious disease antigens. For example, Microbix is now working on external controls for molecular diagnostic tests and is also making significant progress towards bringing Dengue native 1-4 antigens to market.

Microbix antigens include:
- Rubella virus
- Chlamydia
- Dengue virus
- Adenovirus
- Parainfluenza virus
- Rotavirus
- Cytomegalovirus
- Hepatitis A virus
- Herpes Simplex 1&2
- Measles virus
- Influenza virus
- Varicella-Zoster virus
- Respiratory Syncytial virus
- Epstein-Barr virus.

At MEDICA 2014, Microbix will be exhibiting in a new location this year – booth H14 in Hall 3 – but still part of the Ontario, Canada pavilion. As before, the company welcomes the media, other visitors, and old friends.
